StandOut Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Any good picture son how to rig it. Maybe I'm just tired, but the wire thing doesn't click with me, not sure what I'm even looking at on the site. But the videos look AWESOME and I want a couple!!! Pics or good descriptions on how to rig it ? Looks like a great touch up on a regular drop shot. Don't limit this rig to drop shotting conditions, it totally replaces Carolina and Texas rigging applications as well, out produces "BOTH" at least 5 to one, in every head to head test we have done. Plus it can be fished where "no other" rig can, like behind a log where you have 12 inches of water to work,, or a weed pocket 75 feet from the boat,, bedding bass you make just one cast to a bed, the lure stays in the bed (moving) until you pull it, AND THE BASS out of the bed ;D As far as rigging the Wire weight system,, the wires slip into any slip weight (bullet, egg, or even Mojo), you then bend the wires 180 degrees, so they will catch any thing on the bottom (but they will never hard snag your weight),, you attach the SpecTastic by putting into the wire's lock swivel (a number 7 drop shot swivel attached to the wire), the other end of the SpecTastic goes into another one of these swivels that is tied to the end of your line. What makes the wire so good is you can use very light weights,, the wire holds it in place by partially snagging stuff, but "springs free from everything" with about 1 Oz of pull. If your lead ever hard snags in rocks, the wire pulls completely out of the weight, all you loose is the lead,, just slide those wires into another weight and you fishing again in seconds, you didn't loose anything else Quote
Super User David P Posted August 10, 2007 Super User Posted August 10, 2007 Where's the hook go? Line from your reel goes into the swivel which is attached to the weight with the wire in the weight... So where's the hook in this equation? Sorry if these questions are dumb, I might be tired and look at this tomorrow and see it clearly.. Quote
StandOut Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Where's the hook go? Line from your reel goes into the swivel which is attached to the weight with the wire in the weight... So where's the hook in this equation? Sorry if these questions are dumb, I might be tired and look at this tomorrow and see it clearly.. The "end" of your line is "tied" to the swivel,, this is rigged similar to a drop shot rig,, the hook goes a ways up the line above the swivel I might as well confuse you some more,, for working your lures close to the bottom, it can also be rigged like this This method keeps the lure tight on the bottom,, but depending on the angle your fishing, the bottom could restrict some of your action,, not necessarily a bad thing, because in many cases all you need is a little action anyway,, especially on a worm. The swivel in this case is "not" tied to the line, but is slipped on the lien prior to tying your hook on, this allows the Wiggle rig to slide like a Carolina rig the wire weight system just replaces that drop shot weight on the end of this rig I offer 4 different weight set ups, It would have taken too many photos to show each one rigged this way,, perhaps I need to do thumbnails, then a person could blow up each one, if they wanted to see each weight system fully rigged ? On the "buy" page each weight is shown attached to the SpecTastic, but not fully rigged http://ezknot.com/wigglekit.html The "Spectra" elastic goes into these drop shot swivels and locks, this photo shows a drop shot weight (that snags all the time in brush and rocks) Here are the various weights that can be used with the wire system and how they are bent Quote
clancymf Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Standout, I have read all the posts and its seems you have a good product. I would suggest that you try to make your web page a little more reader friendly. No offense, but your website looks little a 15 year olds myspace page. I would lose the repeating jpeg background, the mix matching fonts/sizes and try to do something cleaner and easier to understand what is being purchased. I tried to figure out what the others are buying but am completely lost. I asked a colleague to help and he was just as lost as I was. Could you provide a direct link to the teardrop rig? Thanks, Mick Quote

atlbasser Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 This weekend was some hard fishing. With temps over 100 for a week and a high pressure system that hasnt left the south east for 2 weeks the bass were few and far inbetween. Well for my friends they were. I went out with some fishing buddies from church and they are self proclaimed spinner bait and jig men. They kept telling me how I should tie on a spinner bait and forget about this "new gimmic" I call the wiggle rig. I tried showing them how it works and they just rolled there eyes. So I told them that they were free to fish with what ever they wanted but dont start to cry when I am the only one catching fish. There was 3 of us on a Javlin 2 up front and one in the back (me). So We motor across the lake and start workign drop offs and points. I am wiggeling a white wiggle worm (it has now became my go to lure) and caught 4 bass in the first 30 min. They kept saying that we were in a bad place and that they wanted to move so I told them to move then. We moved to another bank that had plenty of shade and structure and even a sunken road bed. So they managed to catch 2 each in the next hour where as I caught 8. None were too big but they were still caught fish. So we move to some sunken trees they knew and they were throwing 1/2oz to 1 oz jigs . I asked if the trees were christmas trees and they said yes. So I set my tag line going to the wiggle rig to 3 feet and started working the tree pile. I caught 6 more bass on this spot and 4 crappie and 2 shell cracker. 1 caught 1 small dink and the other managed a 4 lber on a spinner bait throwing out into 60 feet of water casting close to 100 yards away from the boat into the middle of the cove we were fishing in. But it was a fluke because that was his last fish for the day. We moved over to a spot close to the dam and I saw some shiners schooling near a downed tree and saw a few bass chasing them. I picked up my rod with the 2 flukes rigged to it and a 18" leader to the wiggle rig. I started casting over to the downed tree and finaly reached it and managed to hang the wire on the wiggle rig on one of its limbs. I then began to make the flukes dance on the surface of the water when the shiners would get close. I caught 3 large mouths, 2 whities, a jack fish and 1 war mouth all from this 60' long downed tree. This was the end of our day as all of us were wore out due to the heat. So we headed in and after it was all over and we had the boat loaded up the guys asked me where they could get the wiggle rigs from. I pointed them towards standouts website. I also told them about this great site. I hope I get to start posting more on this site. I do alot of reading but not that much posting. I just work so dang much that the only time I get to post is either late at night or earliy in the morning. Working full time and having a G/f and trying to start a soft plastics company is time consuming. I do hope to have my first hand pours out in the next month tho but that is a topic for when I become a sponsor of this great site. Hey standout do you sell those casting style weights seperately? I have alot of the swivles and cord left but I need some more of the casting style sinkers. I only bought the 6 buck kit of them and the big kit of the wires. I like the wires but like the casting style with the lock swivle in them too. I lost them all but one in the spot I fish alot at a friends pond where there are 4 trees laying side by side and the limbs are all tangled together. I also want to try out one of those knot tools you sell. If I order one do they come with directions? Quote

If I order one do they come with directions? yes, on the weights No, on the EzKnots ,you download the instructions (condensed version) ,, it helps me keep the price low, packaging and instructions on such things can cost more that the product. The EzKnot can be used for tying for so many different applications, it would take a small book to show how to do them all in detail,, since I only sell these from the internet, people have access to all of the directions. Although it's just "one" knot to learn,, it's applied differently in each application. Here is the hook snell, it takes 5 sec. to tie Here is the same knot,, just a slight difference for lures and hook, this takes 7 sec. to tie Then we have the Line to line,, same knot tied twice, it's the smallest line to line knot there is, and it is very strong joining braid to mono Quote
santeebasser24 Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 I know there is a wiggle rig contest going on, will members of this site be able to enter? Would make the tournament bigger, and would help to spread the word also ! I decided to sit out, since it was so hot this weekend, but with the extension, I will give everyone else a chance lol . God Bless! Steven Quote

God Bless! Steven The contest (tournament) is on another board, I hope to be running one here when the weather cools off a bit, I wish I had waited on the other one, as the S.E. right now is not a time to be fishing. Some fishermen here are members of both forums, the other tournament has an open registration for the tournament, for another week or so. I'm not going to advertise the other web site here,, that is, or should be a No-No Quote
santeebasser24 Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Yes sir, I understand about different websites, that is why I din't state any. Just wanted to get more involved. I agree that fishing may be a little tough now across the board, but the fishing in S.C. has got HOT! with the weather Just hope it will stay this way lol. : Quote
atlbasser Posted August 14, 2007 Author Posted August 14, 2007 Thanks standout. I will be ordering some more weights and one of the knot tools. That line to line knot looks awsome for leader attachment or fly line to mono attachment. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted August 14, 2007 Super User Posted August 14, 2007 Just curious.....has anyone here tried these on a highly pressured lake? I see lots of posts of people catching bass in ponds and such.....just wondering if bass that see 100+ lures per day react the same to the wiggle rig. I want to try them but I would like some "big lake" feedback from someone here on the boards. Quote

Tried it all week of July 14 thru the 22 everyday, didn't get nothen not even a hit. caught very little on carolina as well-strippers were still moven but, not much action for me, exspecially on the wiggle rig > I plan on bringing it back out again someday soon Quote

I want to try them but I would like some "big lake" feedback from someone here on the boards. I have a lot of emails and letters,, but not from this group yet,, think about it,, your fish that have seen thousands of lures, in high pressure lakes,, have never seen them like this. I personally fished Lake Paris out in Ca. about the highest pressure lake in the country, the limit for bass on that lake is 2, it is a high pressure lake that is also very clear, the two professionals I was with, back seated me, every trick they knew to keep the guy in back off the fish,, and they also give me a reel with 20 test, High Vis. line that was so old it looked like I was throwing a Slinky. They were both fishing Fluorocarbon,, about 6 Lb test, they drop shotted, Carolina rigged, Pig and jigged, and I Wiggled, I caught 27 bass in three hours, they caught 7 between them. I received a hand written letter today from a "old" guy in Harrisburg Pa., I'm going to scan it,, then I'm going to frame it. If I can get my scanner working tonight I will post it,, it's better than any testimony I have ever recived Quote
Super User 5bass Posted August 14, 2007 Super User Posted August 14, 2007 Stand Out, I'm almost at the point of buying some because I like the action and the concept, I just need some "big lake" members to push me over the edge. Quote

I understand,, I have just not been on this board long enough,, and the fishing conditions have really stank for all fishing the last two weeks, in most places. I have this,, An email from a tournament guy in New York state Hi Rodney, Here are a few photo's of Jason and myself holding some of our tourney fish from 2006. We had a wonderful fish filled season taking 15 wins, 8 tourney lunkers and 23 tourney large mouths that weighed in over 5 pounds each....in N.Y. waters. Thanks so much for designing such a great product. Thanks Tom Kail Quote

I guess no one even counts them, I know I wouldn't I could not believe this letter,, and you can see why I'm framing it Quote
atlbasser Posted August 14, 2007 Author Posted August 14, 2007 What an honest person. This world needs more people like that, but some where we decided that it was ok to streatch the trut and lie. My hats off to the letter writer. Quote
FishingBuds Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Standout-What line have you used with best reults for the wiggle rig? Quote
johnkook73 Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Today I went to a small lake about 45 minutes from me after a friend of mine got off from work so we got about 2 hours of fishing in. There was a cold front that went through the night before and it was 89 degrees out. This was the first time I have ever fished at this lake. Here is what I tried, Senko worms wacky style, finesse worms weightless, and the wiggle rig using a Zoom Baby Brush Hog (Pumpkin with red flakes), Zoom Curly Tail worm(Cherry Seed), and a Zoom Baby Fluke. I have to admit the only thing I caught was with the wiggle rig. I tried the other stuff about the equal amount of time. Total was 1 bass with the Baby Brush Hog, 3 bass with the Zoom Curly Tail, and 1 Grennel with the Zoom Curly Tail. I did not catch anything using the Baby Fluke. My buddy had the Goose Egg and I rubbed it in, hehe because he usually outfishes me. Thanks again for the Wiggle Rig. Quote
atlbasser Posted August 16, 2007 Author Posted August 16, 2007 Great report. I caught 13 yesterday afternoon in a friends pond. Was using the wiggle rig with a tiki stick and white wiggle worms. I also fished the tiki stick without the wiggle rig and only hung into one that I didnt get in. Quote
johnkook73 Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I havent't tried any senko worms yet, Anybody have any suggestions on color if they used them with the wiggle worm? Seems like alot of people are having good results with the white wiggle worm. just ordered a bunch I will let you guys know how I did with them. Quote

Seems like alot of people are having good results with the white wiggle worm. just ordered a bunch I will let you guys know how I did with them. They maynot be the right lure for the rig. there are better choices out there to use with the wiggle rig but I have had some success with the sweet potato pie colored tiki sticks as well as the charteruse colored ones. When I fish a senko style bait on it I use an octopus hook with an O ring rigged wacky. I also slide a 2 ball glass rattle in one side of the wacky senko. When I say some success I mean that I have caught about 15 bass using a senko on the wiggle rig. I find it better to use a soft highly flexible worm like a culprit (6" 10" and 12") or the zoom 6" curl tails. Nothing beats the wiggle worm in any color on the wiggle rig imo though. I have caught so many more fish sice I got my order of them in. I love the pumpkin seed ones for clear water with a bright sun and the pink ones for bluegill are killer. The white ones seem to kick butt in every condition I have fished them in. From clear water and bright skys to muddy murky water with overcast skys. I like to take a red spike it pen and color the "head" of the worm red and also put a few red dots around the hook area . I just picked up a pack of "tomato" colored culprits that have a deep red core with a translucent charteruse outter skin. I dont know how well they are going to work but I plan on finding out tomorrow. I also have some Zoom style finesse worms coming in that are 8.5" long. I have a buddy in fl who is making them for me. Each pack has 20 in it and I got 6 packs. Pumpkin seed, june bug, charteruse, white, cotton candy, and what he calls patriot which is a knock off of culprits fire and ice. What I like about them is the fact that they are so long and skinny that they should be awsome on this wiggle rig. He said he would pour mine extra soft so we will see how they do. I will report back with the results from the "tomato" culprits and the 8.5" finesse hand pours. Quote
