Simp Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Well it's been a struggle for me the last few trips out on a boat fishing. I had a tourney last month on a power plant lake and got skunked and my confidence here recently has been low. I'm just not to used to fishing this time frame for bass. Since I've gotten into my bass club I've had to focus more on bass right now when historically I'm usually fishing for crappie with my dad. With that said this past year I've did tons of reading on this board and it's articles plus hours of TV shows and learned tons about early spring patterns and where to generally to look. Today I took out my partner for my next tourney out on the lake to prefish. We have had some crazy hot and high winds out of the south east the last few days and decided to focus on spots that would be getting the warm air and water blown into. For the first couple hours it was slow fishing but we found a great little cove that was just perfect with a 5 degree increase in water temps and the shad loaded up in there. We then literally loaded up on our limit in half a hour with at one point both of having a fish on at the same time and catching 3 fish in 3 casts. So now I'm super pumped for our Tourney next week!! Tons can change in a week but at least I feel like were onto something. Here's a pick of my partners 4 pounder. Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 8, 2009 Super User Posted March 8, 2009 Nowledge is gud. That's what the Big Red "N" stands for for the University of Nebraska football team. Nowledge. Good luck in your tourny. Let us know how you do. ;D ;D ;D Quote
memo43 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Congrats on your new found knowledge. My dad use to tell me that you need 2 things to catch fish: 1. hold your tounge out just right or 2. KNOWLEDGE. I prefer the second one that way a fly doesn't land on my tounge good luck on your tourney memo Quote
skillet Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Glad for the confidence building day. Real good feeling to catch fish because of what you know and planned ... skillet Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted March 8, 2009 Super User Posted March 8, 2009 Way to go studying up. Looks like it paid off! Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted March 9, 2009 Super User Posted March 9, 2009 Congrats! Feels really good to onto something doesn't it! Shad, stuffed into a cove. Sounds kinda like a lot of bluegills I've known. Quote
Tuckman Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I bet the other guys in your bass club are looking at this pic right now and trying to recognize the cove in the background... Quote
Simp Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 Great fish! Is that cedar lake? Cough, cough, maybe..... One of my friends draged me out there again today to fish a small fish off between a few of his buddies. We ended up catching over 30 fish and had the big bass. Quote
