Dixon Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Just fishing a pond today. Fishing a 4.5 black and blue coffee tube from strike king on a red weighted hook. First cast it gets nailed as soon as it hits the water. As the fish is getting closer to the boat, noticed I had two bass hooked at one time. One was 3 to 4 lbs and the other one was 2 lbs. Was the craziest thing. Buddy got them both in the net. I know most of you wont believe this story but it actually happened to me this afternoon. Has anyone else every caught two bass at once? Quote
teaspoon Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 i saw where a pro did it 2 or 3 times...on tv Quote
Bassnajr Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 It's like a Hole in One in golf!! Congrats!!!! Never heard of a double on a single hook...that's even harder. Timmy Horton seems to do it a couple of times a year on a crankbait!!! You got one up on him!!! ajr Quote
bass or bass ? Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Not bass but I did catch 2 blue runners on the same cast while fishing from the Deerfield Beach fishing pier in Deerfield Beach Florida . What fun eh ;D? Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~ Quote
TommyBass Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Caught two on a strike king deep crankbait one time but they were on the seperate treble hooks. One hook sounds even harder but I don't doubt your story... congrats! Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 26, 2009 Super User Posted January 26, 2009 I did that several times in one day but I was using a Double Fluke Rig. It's supposed to do that. How did you catch two fish on one hook? :-? Quote
Dixon Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 Just one of those crazy deals I guess. The big fish was hooked good and the tip of the hook was barely in the small one. They where side by side coming to the boat. It was a good day. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 26, 2009 Super User Posted January 26, 2009 That's pretty cool. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 26, 2009 Super User Posted January 26, 2009 I did catch 2 blue runners on the same cast That happens down here, not only runners but jacks as well. Any time you have schooling fish it can happen. I have had it happen with peacocks as well. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted January 26, 2009 Super User Posted January 26, 2009 Two fish on one hook :-? NICE! That being said I have done it with a rattle trap,a dt crank, and a rebel popper with a norman front runner on it. Quote
SoFl-native Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 wow 2 on a single worm hook? That is unusual. I have only had that happen on a trap. Good stuff. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 26, 2009 Super User Posted January 26, 2009 Wow! Never on a single hook. That's amazing and I'm surprised that several other guys have had the same experience. 8-) Quote
jimmieO Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Thats pretty slick. I've done it with a crankbait, and mine were 12 inchers. To have one in the 3-4 range, and the other 2lbs. on one hook----AWESOME. Congratulations Quote
tyrius. Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Never on a single hook. That's amazing and I'm surprised that several other guys have had the same experience. I'm trying to not be a jerk here, but I haven't seen anyone else say that they caught two fish on one hook. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 26, 2009 Super User Posted January 26, 2009 The only time anything remotely close to this ever happening to me was when a Northern ate (or tried to, anyway). The Northern got hooked on the same worm hook, though broke off near the boat. I have seen several smallmouth get into "frenzy" mode once one is hooked. They seem to be attacking the bait, not the hooked fish. I suppose its possible. I'll take the original report at face value, must have been something to realize what you had Quote
Bassnajr Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 That's why I bring a camera.....to silence the "Doubting Thomas'" of the world.... Peace!!! ajr Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted January 26, 2009 Super User Posted January 26, 2009 Happen to me years ago on Rayburn. fishing a rogue. Had a two lb. hooked on the rear. As I got it to the boat a 4lb tried to take it away and I caught them both. Several times over the years I have caught two dinks on the same lure while fishing schoolies. Quote
ilovefooffur Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Now that is an experience! I caught a catfish and a bluegill on a single hook once. The catfish was about 5 lbs and bluegill wasn't very big but it was cool nonetheless. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted January 26, 2009 Super User Posted January 26, 2009 Timmy Horton seems to be getting pretty good at it Quote
mattm Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I've seen it on multiple hook lures, but wouldn't of thought it to be possible on a single hook. Especially fish of that size. I don't doubt your story though. Quote
IDbasser Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 When i was younger living in the South, We would catch 2 white bass at the same time, quite a bit when the feeding frenzy was on. It was on baits with 2 trebles though. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted January 29, 2009 Super User Posted January 29, 2009 Never on a single hook, but I did on jerkbaits. Quote
LCpointerKILLA Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Never on a single hook, but I did on jerkbaits. What a great fishery you have. By the way T-rig, when can I expect to see the swiss bass thread back with some new pictures? Quote
