Super User roadwarrior Posted January 16, 2008 Super User Posted January 16, 2008 I can't believe I have to post this............. As of today, I now cannot attend the roadtrip. Words cannot say how dissapointed I am not to be able to meet everyone, fish a great lake, and bail on roadwarrior since he has been so gracious to invite me to stay with him. When I arrived for work today my Chief of Police informed me that I was choosen to attend a Field Training Officer Supervsior class scheduled for March 24-26. This class is only being offered one time in this state this year. Basically, I will supervise the officers that train new recruit officers. It's a good career acheivement for me but it leaves me void of the anticipation I had thinking about Guntersville. Hope everyone catches one for me, I'll be daydreaming of fishing with you while at the class. :-/ Hey! The good news outweighs the bad. CONGRATULATIONS! -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior

At least there is a positive in your scenario, mine is strictly a scheduling thing, I have the previous week off. How much does THAT suck? My one week a yr to take my fishing vacation and I will be sitting at home reading about you guys going the next week. On top of that (somewhat reverse situation) the teamsters training teamsters program at UPS will be discontinued in august this yr. I got to do a lot of nice assignment stuff instead of delivery through this program. No mo,lol. You guys are gonna have a blast, the pressure is on though, I want to see a kickdonkey video when you get back!!!!
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 16, 2008 Super User Posted January 16, 2008 KICKDONKEY? You are a funny dude.... I PMed Russ this same question, so I suppose I can throw it out there for all. What are we doing for a video this year since Russ will not be in attendance?
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 16, 2008 Super User Posted January 16, 2008 I'll have my video camera with me. I hope plenty of other guys have theirs to. Everyone better bring a camera. Preferably a digital one so we can load the pictures onto my computer before we leave from the trip. That way when I am putting the video together I will have plenty of stuff to use.
Super User Jimzee Posted January 16, 2008 Super User Posted January 16, 2008 I'll have my camera and I will buy an extra card for it before I go. I think I can get nearly 10 min. of video with the card I have right now. Any suggestions on a card that will get close to an hour of video? The card I have right now is 1 Gig SD card.
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Glenn is video ready too, there ya go, no excuse (AND NO COUNTRY!!) (I just realized this,lol,....payback time I bet, I can hear the banjo's now, lol)
Masshole Mike Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 i'll definitely be bringing my digital camera. i can take up to a half hour of video i believe so that should make for some decent clips.
RiskKid. Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 (AND NO COUNTRY!!) (I just realized this,lol,....payback time I bet, I can hear the banjo's now, lol) Ahemmmm......representatives of Nashville aka Music City will be there....as an official resident of THE MUSIC CITY I believe the Sweet Home Alabama should be the theme song with a little Hank Jr and Charlie Daniels thrown in!!!

Super User Jimzee Posted January 16, 2008 Super User Posted January 16, 2008 I would be down for some Skynyrd. Fitting song for the location.
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 16, 2008 Super User Posted January 16, 2008 I think this is the most action in the thread in a long time.... A combination of cabin fever and adrenaline mixed together in anticipation of the trip. I freakin love it!!!
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 16, 2008 Super User Posted January 16, 2008 http://unattributed.net/html/whiskey.html
Super User Jimzee Posted January 16, 2008 Super User Posted January 16, 2008 http://unattributed.net/html/whiskey.html That'll be a good one for the video at dinner. ;D Wayne, I'm getting real excited myself. I don't know what I'll be like the week before. It will be a circus around my house!
Super User Alpster Posted January 16, 2008 Super User Posted January 16, 2008 I will have my video camera and still camera on the trip. Hey Jimzee, my experience is, the last week, you start talking to yourself a lot. LOL Ronnie
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 16, 2008 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 16, 2008 I'm fully locked and loaded for video editing. We can download everything onto my computer while we're there.
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 16, 2008 Super User Posted January 16, 2008 I've been doing some serious research on the lake for that time of year. I have read every fishing report I could find for the last 10 years and I see nothing but good things for that week. 1. Full Moon the Saturday before we get there. 2. The average water temp for the past 10 years has been 60. 3. The fish will bite just about anything. So fish your strengths. 4. There are lots of fish shallow. From what I've read you can expect 10 to 30 fish a day with 1 out of 10 being 5+. The fish will be in a solid prespawn feeding frenzy. You better have a lipless crankbait tied on. Start with a 1/4 oz in craw or shad colors. Lizards and senkos in greens and browns seem to be the mainstay for soft plastics. Jigs in Black and blue are all I read about but it's hard for me to believe that they wouldn't hit a craw colored one either. This is my short list Lipless Cranks Shallow Cranks Spinnerbaits C-Rig and t-Rig lizards Most of the fish should be shallow (less than 6 ft) but the big ones may be staging hard on points and deeper water close to spawning flats.
Super User Jimzee Posted January 16, 2008 Super User Posted January 16, 2008 Fluke, I think you just kicked things in high gear for me after that post. Talk about motivation! It's on now!
Shadcranker Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Jig colors: My favorite down there is a green pumpkin with a few blue strands with a gr pumpkin and blue trailer (Okechobee craw or similar color). It covers the color spectrum pretty well. A bit of green and the blue in one.
Super User skunked_again Posted January 16, 2008 Super User Posted January 16, 2008 Olathe, KS 66061 Drive: 754 mi about 11 hours 55 mins 23 turns later Lake Guntersville State Park think i can talk the wife into vegas one week and fishing in Alabama the next?........lol
Super User Long Mike Posted January 17, 2008 Super User Posted January 17, 2008 To all the Annual BR fishin trip newbies. This will be my second trip, so I can tell you from experience that this board will start looking more and more like a hot pop-corn popper as the big day approaches. LET THE FUN BEGIN!
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 17, 2008 Super User Posted January 17, 2008 Getting a guide for one of the days is a huge advantage. I failed to book one last year and I wasted two days trying to figure things out. The guys who got one were the ones you had the most success. This is also a cost that can be split up. Glenn got a guide last year and he caught the biggest fish. Buzzbaitfool12 and clan got one to and they caught the mess out of bass. While most guys were catching 6 or 8 a day they were boating dozens of fish each day. There is a list of guides on our Guntersville trip website. Check them out and give them a call. We have checked all of them out and they are all reputable.
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 17, 2008 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 17, 2008 Just to clarify - I caught that big bass when I wasn't with the guide (just watch the video for proof).
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Just to clarify - I caught that big bass when I wasn't with the guide (just watch the video for proof). See?? LUCK still plays a big part in it ;D Glenn, you KNOW Brent and I let that fish pass by.....Brent wanted to bag it but I said ..."Nah,....let's let Glenn get this one, she's heading right for him"....I edited that part of the video, lol : ;D
