I've been doing some serious research on the lake for that time of year. I have read every fishing report I could find for the last 10 years and I see nothing but good things for that week.

1. Full Moon the Saturday before we get there.

2. The average water temp for the past 10 years has been 60.

3. The fish will bite just about anything. So fish your strengths.

4. There are lots of fish shallow.

From what I've read you can expect 10 to 30 fish a day with 1 out of 10 being 5+. The fish will be in a solid prespawn feeding frenzy. You better have a lipless crankbait tied on. Start with a 1/4 oz in craw or shad colors. Lizards and senkos in greens and browns seem to be the mainstay for soft plastics. Jigs in Black and blue are all I read about but it's hard for me to believe that they wouldn't hit a craw colored one either.

This is my short list

Lipless Cranks

Shallow Cranks

Spinnerbaits

C-Rig and t-Rig lizards

Most of the fish should be shallow (less than 6 ft) but the big ones may be staging hard on points and deeper water close to spawning flats.

Gene did all the leg work researching this post, so I don't want to steal his thunder, but...

Lots of people outside the BR family don't fish the Fat Ika or Kreature, most people don't know about these baits. The cover/ structure/ depth conditions flukemaster describes are IDEAL for fishing these two lures. If this were a tournament or I was trying to compete with you guys, I would not mention them, but as a friend, I STRONGLY suggest picking up a bag or two!

8-)

Who all is getting a guide so far and who are you using?

I've got Jeff Reed booked for Monday. He was recomended to me by a good friend of mine who fishes the Stren Series and he did real well at the G-ville toruny last year. Some of the guides on the list were recomended by Jeff Reed.

Fluke, FYI....you are not listed on the Roadtrip site as attending.

I gotta talk to Ronnie and see if he would like to book someone.

I don't know how flukemaster got bounced from the list, (Glen can edit the site also ;)) but he is back on and Mass Hole Mike is just the last to sign up. Please remember if you sign up on this thread it may take a day or two to get the website updated. I also included a link to "On Line Fishing Licenses" on the "Look Who's Coming" page.

OK, now all you whiners are on the list.  ;) ;D

The rest of you slackers need to get signed up also. "08 NO EXCUSES!"

Fluke, If you don't have anyone to share the cost of the guide at G'ville, I'll be happy to do so.

Alpster, I think I changed my mind about getting there on Sunday.  If you and Speedbead are getting there on Saturday I may do the same.  Is anyone else getting there on Saturday?  Getting Real Excited Now!!  8-)

Jimzee,

We will likely arrive kind of late on Saturday. We are making the whole trip on Saturday and we have an invite to Riskid's place for dinner along the way. He makes a meal too good to pass up if we can work it out. You hear that Carl??? It looks like it's just me & Wayne.

Guys, just thought I would let you know that there aren't very many cabins left.  If you haven't got your cabin and want to stay in one you better get it soon.  They only have one chalet left for that week too.

Ghoti, Flukemaster and I are sharing a guide on Monday also.  His name is Jeff.  Our guide is a lot better than your guide.  Not only that, our guide's mother can beat up your guide's mother.   :P ;D

Once again, I will not be attending the BassResource.com roadtrip.  The writing has been on the wall since late November - Early December when the rumors started flying where I work.  My wife and I work for the same company which is now laying off 4000 workers and ridding itself of 1500 or so contractors.  I think my wife and I will be OK (knock on wood) but we don't want to take any chances with expenses until we know for sure.  Have fun, guys.  I wish I could be there.

Senile1,

I hope everything works out with your job & family. I will take your name off the list, but will expect to see it go back on when you find the job is secure. Keep us posted.

Ronnie, Directors and their technical teams will not know where the hatchet will fall until after March 1st.  I'll be cutting it really close on the time, but we'll see.
