Super User Bassn Blvd Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 I headed out this afternoon about 3pm. The weather was great, partly cloudy and about 78 degrees. My dad was throwing an old faded shad rap and I started out with a jig. He was catching 4 to my 1. I switched to a Zara Spook and we stooped counting at 30. Most fish were between 1-2 pounds. I, however, caught the two biggest . The blow-ups on the topwater were just plain awesome. It kind of reminded me of the mullet run down the coast when shark, tarpon and jacks chase the school of mullet knocking them up into the air. I had several fish blow the spook at least a foot out of the water and then come back and suck it in. It was incredible. Here are a couple of pic's of the lake and fish. Average size that we caught. Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted January 8, 2009 Super User Posted January 8, 2009 Jeez! I haven't been able to buy a topwater bite lately, just overworking my wrist and hauling water by the buckets :-/ The time of the year is coming real soon though 8-) How clear is the water where you've been pulling off these feats? Just curious. Most of the places I am fishing are badly stained right now and am thinking this may have something to do with it :-? Quote
BassinBoy Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Shorts and a T-Shirt, topwater fishing :'( ;D Quote
Cigarlover 1 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 There is nothing in the world like a good topwater bite. Nice fish. Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 9, 2009 Super User Posted January 9, 2009 I'm in Delray and the county has been spraying for weeds in the lakes and canals. The fishing seems to always taper down then for several weeks. Great weather lately and the surf has been producing so I don't miss fishing for bass. BTW catching a nice jack on topwater is awesome.
