Super User Bassn Blvd Posted January 3, 2009 Super User Posted January 3, 2009 Sorry but no pictures. 19 boats entered today's tournament, which is down about 5 from last month. 1st place was 19 pounds with a 7.1 kicker for big fish. I took 2nd with 12 pounds which kind of stunk because another guy tied me so he and I split the money for 2nd and 3rd. 4th place was just over 9 pounds. I started the morning out throwing a spinner bait and chug bug with no success. 45 minutes into the day I said to myself "today is going to be tough." Water temp was 69, water visibility was HORRIBLE and blue bird skies for most the day. I saw some birds up in the distance swooping down to the surface which could only mean one thing, SHAD. I picked up my crank bait rod and BOOM. I put 3 fish in the live well in about 10 minutes. I was throwing a Lucky Craft GDS Mini DR in Tennessee shad color. The sun was getting high and the shad went deep and I couldn't find them. I flipped the lilly pads for the next 3 hours to finish out my best 5. Now my back is KILLING me. Quote

Super User burleytog Posted January 4, 2009 Super User Posted January 4, 2009 You would have won if you would have fished the baits I sent you. How on earth do you tie? Should have used big fish as a tiebreaker. Quote

Should have used big fish as a tiebreaker. I lost one of the traps after catching about 6 in my neighborhood lake that weighed up to 1.5 pounds. The paint started coming off too. I tried the other trap for a little while today but nothing. How do we tie? I have no fricking clue. I had him beat on the big fish too. We release our fish as soon as we weigh in so there's no way to know someone who weighs in after you is going to tie with you. Unless everyone weighs their big fish just in case. Quote
memo43 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 congrats on a good outing. I just think about going fishing an the temps drop to the mid 30's :-X > memo Quote

Super User burleytog Posted January 4, 2009 Super User Posted January 4, 2009 You don't run a separate big fish pool? Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted January 4, 2009 Author Super User Posted January 4, 2009 You don't run a separate big fish pool? No. It's $30 a boat and I think5 or 10 of that goes to big fish, I think. Quote

So you're still running big fish though. Should have been an easy tiebreaker. Always weigh the biggest fish in every bag. Quote
