Branuss04 Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 I very rarely fish water with spots, but after a night of heavy metal and a lot of head banging, me and "The Bizz" decided to hit the water. After NUMEROUS dinks under 1 pound for the both of us, I hooked up with a decent fish on the dropshot. She went 3-2 and a official new PB spot. After another handful of 1 pounders, I set into another good fish. She gave me a pretty good fight on the dropshot with 6# floro. She went 4-6 and another new "Respectable" PB spot. It made the trip worth wild and even better I was able to outfish bizz again (No jay, your 1/4 pounders don't count towards your total!!!!) ** Sorry for the bad pictures. Batteries went dead in the camera so I had to resort to the Camera Phone Quote
paul. Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 man those had to feel good on that ul. great job. what's the weather and water temps like over there now? don't look too unbearably cold judging from the pix. congrats again man. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted December 13, 2008 Super User Posted December 13, 2008 Outstanding. That's what I caught the one in my avatar on. It went 4+. Quote
franklinfishfinder Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 awsome spots. i just set my personal best at 4.87 two weeks ago in a tournament. i had snaged a carp earlier that day on a shad rap and when i set the hook i ownestly thought it was another carp the way it didn't come up. but it ended up being a huge spot. it's all we get to fish for anymore around here. it's crazy how in the last 5 years how many and how big the spots have got here in western north carolina and north georgia. almost every tournament is won on a good sack of spots. sometimes i real kicker largemouth will show up but 9 times out of 10 it will be 5 real good 3-4 pound spots that win it. hope i can find a few sunday on chatuge. Super User fourbizz Posted December 14, 2008 Super User Posted December 14, 2008 "outfished" me. L M F A O i catch twice as many fish as you, and you think you outfished me because you caught a medium size spot on a dropshot? LOL. Let us not forget : 1. I had to convince you to fish this lake 2. I have that piece of structure figured out 3. Told you where to fish on said structure 4. Said " I think the big fish are up shallow with this weather" and took us up to that area. 5. I was not the genius that snagged the marker bouy 6. I had swimbait follows 7. You do not know how to set the hook with a dropshot 8. You suck So, I do not believe you out fished me. In fact, I expect to get a nice fruit basket or plate of cookies from you as a thank you for the awesome guide job I did for you. Please deliver in person, with a card as well. Good times bud. Not bad for a little half day trip. Quote

Randall Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 So, 4bizz was throwing a swimbait and you beat him with a tiny dropshot that you don't even know how to set the hook on. ;D I would never admit to that 4bizz. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted December 14, 2008 Super User Posted December 14, 2008 I threw a swimbait for only about an hour. I had a hard time doing anything besides force feeding fish I could see on the graph, lol. The rest of the time I had a hard time concentrating, because i was making fun of him snap setting a size 2 dropshot hook, lol. From now on, I'm gonna point out just how badly he gets outfished every trip. ;D ;D Besides, my well honed netting skills were paramount to his accomplishment ;D Also, I was to rocked out from the night before to do much besides dropshot with one hand in my jacket pocket and shiver, lol. Not bad for a little half day trip. Let us not forget, my TWO fish equaled the weight of ALL of your fish!! Here's my argument to your comments above: 1. Irrelevant in the given case!!!! 2. If you have that piece of structure figured out, then how does it feel to get worked on your own structure!! 3. No argument.... you did lay out the structure for me 4. You said that after I caught my 3-2 and I said "Judging by the color of their mouths and where I caught it, it looks as if they are grubbing up in the shallow." 5.I wouldn't have snagged the buoy if the driver wouldn't have been doing figures eights over the area!!!! 6. See highlight above.... "ONE(1(UNO))" swimbait follow is not relevant in an argument unless you actually hooked it. Which, correct me if I'm wrong, DID NOT HAPPEN!!!! 7. Considering I technically didn't LOOSE any fish on the DS, You can't use my Bill Dance Drop shot Hook set against me!!!! 8. Suck it!!! j/k oh yea... regarding the net skills, at least I caught fish worth testing your so called "well honed" netting skills. One of which you goofed up on!!! I'm pretty sure I never had to lift the net for any of your toads ;D. All in good fun my friend. Well worth it. Had a blast!!!!! PAUL: The weather is getting pretty cold. Water was low 50's and the air temp was probably as cold, if not colder than the water. We had a cold front moving in Quote

Super User Tin Posted December 16, 2008 Super User Posted December 16, 2008 Nice job Branuss. Beating JJ then rubbing it in is always the best way to anger him and make him run back to his little cave and wallow in self-pity. And make yourself feel good about yourself in the process. By the way, what do you mean by the look of their mouths they had been up shallow? Never heard of it before... :-/ Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted December 16, 2008 Super User Posted December 16, 2008 Nice spots there. Wish they got that big here on a regular basis. They're fun to catch on small deep cranks. Quote

By the way, what do you mean by the look of their mouths they had been up shallow? Never heard of it before... :-/ Lol, He needs it every once in awhile!!! It's healthy for him! It's a personal assumption I've made. Last fall I was fishing large shallow flats next to deep water. I noticed that a lot of the fish I was catching had red on the inside of their mouths. It was along the roofs of their mouths and inner lips. These red mouthed fish were also caught in the shallows on the flats and 8/10 of them had crawfish in their mouths. I kinda put two and two together and figured they were all swimming shallow, picking at the bottom, thus giving them red mouths. The fish I caught in the deep water had no red mouths. I've heard a couple people mention something similar. Anybody care to capitalize on my assumption, or tell me i'm wrong . Either way? Quote
Super User flechero Posted December 18, 2008 Super User Posted December 18, 2008 I'd like to have a "Tall Boy" of miller lite and a seat in the back of the boat you guys fish from... Just to listen and observe. I bet you two are a lot of laughs. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted December 19, 2008 Super User Posted December 19, 2008 Yeah, its quite a bit of fun, despite Brandon being there ;D ;D Quote
