-nick- Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 So today me and my friend went out fishing because it got a little warmer today and around 430 i threw on a jig with a rage tail craw just to see if i could catch anything because I've never caught anything on one and given it so much time out on the water so i throw it and caught this little bass less than a pound big but i was still exicted because i wasnt expecting anything from a jig. So i get that jig stuck in a tree and had to cut my line so i get another one that had on a rage tail chunk on it and a couple casts later my line takes off and it was a nice 2 to 3 pound bass! Couple casts later i caught this 11 pound monster! It was crazy the first day I've ever caught a bass on a jig i caught 3 in one day! Not to mention 1 was a good size and the other was a freaking hawg! I was just using the jigs like i use t-rigged worms, horizontal to vertical with my rod. It was crazy! baby 3 pounder nessy:) Quote
jigandpig Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 nice fish !! jig and pig is a very good bait after you learn to fish it and when to use it. its probably one of the best cold water bass baits there is and one of my favorite baits to fish. Quote
garry77 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Congratulations on the nice fish.I'm still holding out for my first jig fish. Thanks for the inspiration. Quote

Super User Catt Posted October 31, 2008 Super User Posted October 31, 2008 Are you hooked on jigs yet? Quote
-nick- Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 Nice fish, but invest $20 in a scale. This thing was a monster! and just because we use a crappy spring scale thats older than mcdonalds doesnt mean we need one that gives us correct readings. I happen to like the ones it gives us juuuuuust fine! haha Quote
-nick- Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 Are you hooked on jigs yet? Yes, it was pretty amazing how i texas rigged an old monster and didnt catch anything and then throw out there a small jig compared to the old monster and catch that thing? It didnt make sense but yes I can't wait to go buy some different jigs and stuff. ;D Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Awesome ;D Nice work man. It's always nice to catch fish using a new technique, especially an absolute monster. Quote

Captain Rhino Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Nice fish, but invest $20 in a scale. I think he was referring to the first fish more than the big one. I'd have to say that 2-3 pounds is definitely a stretch. That second fish is a hog though! Look at the mouth on that sucker... Awesome catch! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 31, 2008 Super User Posted October 31, 2008 Nice fish! 8-) Quote

Haha well me and my friend have determined that our scale is about 2 pounds, so im thinking that 11 pounder was about 9 and the 3 was about 1 and a half b/c it actually read 3 and 1/2 which i knew was wrong. -nick- Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 Nice bass bro!!You threw him back or getting it mounted? I thew him back! I don't have the money right now to get one mounted, plus if i get one mounted its gonna be "nessy", as me and my friend like to call her. lol Which i'd probably even then just measure it and take good pics and still release her. Super User J Francho Posted November 1, 2008 Super User Posted November 1, 2008 Great catch! Definitely get a good scale when you can afford it. I caught this one at lunchtime today on a jig. It weighed 4 lbs. 5 oz. Quote
Bassboss Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Great pig on the jig!!! How were you working the jig? Quote
-nick- Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 Great pig on the jig!!! How were you working the jig? I just casted it out there and gave it a lot of slack to fall straight down then would just reel in the slack and lift my rod to like a 12oclock position every few seconds of lettin it sit. Quote
