Super User burleytog Posted October 13, 2008 Super User Posted October 13, 2008 TheBeast, myself, Jimzee, PitchinKid, and Booten converged on northern WV for debauchery, gluttony and perhaps a little fishing. Twas a late night as TB and I didn't get to Casa De Jimzee till 3:30AM. We settled in for a couple hours of snooze, but I just laid there, my brain in OD and my ankle throbbing thanks to teh gout. We rose early Sat. AM and headed for the lake. The scenery was wonderful. Unfortunately, the fishing wasn't all that good. Bluebird skies and all that. We did, however, manage to boat a few dinks. TheBeast got that one right at the ramp just after dark. A word to the wise, if you're going to sneak daddy's boat out, at least know how to put it on the trailer. And if you don't, please don't hit the ganga all day, then try to load said boat. Saturday night was capped off with a great Italian feast and Dominique. Sunday morning saw a late start and the same fishing. After doing some parking lot work on Booten's trailer, we managed to squeeze in a few hours of fishing before having to call it a day. FWIW, don't ever trust Jimzee to take photos when there are certain things in the background. There's a great story about those last two photos, but I can't tell it here. Twas a good weekend for everything but fishing. I ended up catching 6, I think Jimzee got 3 or 4. PitchinKid got into them pretty good on Saturday and TheBeast got his first musky on his second cast Sunday. But I'm not complaining. Great scenery, good people and good food. TheBeast and I stopped in Charleston on the way home and stuffed ourselves with Famous Dave's BBQ. Getting to be kind of a tradition after our trips. Thanks for the hospitality goes to Jimzee and his wife. What sane person would let people like us into your house for a weekend? Oh, and Booten, there's still a big difference between S WV and SW VA. Quote
TheBeast Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Never thought I would say I was envious of anyone from WVa, but Jimzee has got everything you need right there. A great lake and some of the best Itallian you will find anywhere. Big thanks go out to him and his wife for the great hospitality. Was great to finally meet PitchinKid and Booten and hit the water with them. I ended up with 8 altogether topped off with tha 5 in the pic. Also got my first white bass and of course as Burley mentioned my first muskie. Almost had my first double on a crankbait early saturday but one of them came off. Both were nice 2.5's the one that came off kept coming back and hitting the lure but never got hooked again, then right at the boat as I lifted the one out of the water another one came up to see what was going on. I thought we were gonna be on a killer crankbait bite in that one spot for a while bet never got another one to even follow it. Can't wait to go back when the weather is a little bad and see what that place really has to offer. Quote
Big Tom Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 That looks like a whole bunch of fun. Great looking lake too. You guys ain't right by they way. Quote

Should have taken your sorry rear too. Booten ain't that far from you and he fished alone since Speedbead was too much of a [censored] to make the trip down this weekend. Quote
basser89 Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Really wish I could see the pics (stupid firewall)! Just curious, what lake you were fising? The only lake I've had the chance to fish in WV was Sleepy Creek lake. Awesome lake for the scenery but it was a bear for me to fish! Quote

Big Tom Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Ya know what, we might just have to schedule a trip one of these days. Burley, you think you have a hard time catching them...geeze. I will make you look pretty dang proficient...and I break things while almost falling out of boats too. Quote
BassinWill301 Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Famous Daves sounds straight good right now. Quote
Pitchinkid Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Of course we loved having BL and Tom come to Mountaineer country and do some fishing and site seeing. Its funny how there was no camera available in the boat i fished out of lol. But it was great having them down and im glad that Booten got to fish as well, he is truly one of the funniest guys you will ever meet. As far as Bobby and Tom, if these guys wanna come fish with ya, dont let them, they fart,ALOT!!! Quote

I Love BassResource Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 What a weekend! If you ever get a chance to hang out with this bunch, you'll have a blast. Great company, great food, and good fishin (clear water, blue bird days, yadda). I think I caught 5 green fish on Sat, plus a slew of hybrid. I could only manage a single 1-2lber on Sunday, in the three hours we had after pimpin my boat trailer. Huge thanks to Jimzee and his wife, for allowing a gaggle of strange men to take over the house for a weekend. You'll never meet a nicer more accommodating couple. Hell, even the dog thoroughly enjoyed having my calf around for the weekend. Thanks to Bobby and Tom for making the trip north. I really enjoyed getting to meet you guys. Sorry about the lil fella that clung on to my back pocket. Thanks to AJ for the day early "recon" trip of the lake. We even nailed an "elusive" stonewall smallie! If I can ever be host to a planned trip, I'd enjoy doing so. Even if Burley does likes to fog your pillow just before bedtime. Quote

Hmm...Just happened upon this little jewel...We shall see!!! Blaine, AJ and I have had the worst event coordination skills ever this summer. Well, actually, its just been me.... : I really do appreciate the fact that everyone keeps inviting me despite my complete lack of free time and my constant excuses. ;D I gotta figure out how to strap the rods and tackle bag on the Harley. That ought to be an interesting trip. Quote
1inStripes Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I wouldn't worry about it Speedbeed. Burley and Beast haven't held it against me trying to setup get togethers and me not making it. I owe them a couple of local pond trips for make ups I believe. Maybe after I finish this dang house I can get around to wetting a line again. Quote
slomoe Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 WTH are those boob things that grow on the wood underwater. I see those a lot out here. I friggin love that dog. Looks like good times Quote

PitchinKid and I saw one as big as a beach ball, neither of us knew anything about them either. He just said they are slimey and hard. As far as Bobby and Tom, if these guys wanna come fish with ya, dont let them, they fart,ALOT!!! Feed me chili one night and Italian the next and throw a few hot cheese pepperoni rolls in for good measure. Its funny how there was no camera available in the boat i fished out of lol. I never even thought about bringin my camera because I knew Burley would have it covered, worst part I had my phone on my hip all day saturday and never even thought about it havin a camera on it. Got to agree on Booten, just make sure he keeps that monkey in line. ..and I break things while almost falling out of boats too. My wife is the only one that ever used that thing, she fished with me when Jimzee came down here and it took her 3 hours to notice it was missing. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted October 14, 2008 Super User Posted October 14, 2008 Guys, I had an absolute blast having y'all around for the weekend. Too bad about the blue bird skies the whole time, maybe next time... My side is still sore from all the laughing on Saturday night. You all can only imagine, five guys in a Hummer coming back from an Italian dinner where we ate way too much. Good times for sure. Tin, I laughed my arse off when I read your response. ;D BTW, the masses of slime balls in the water can be read about here.
