Bass Bro Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Are these "jerk baits"And how to you fish them? Thanks Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted November 12, 2008 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted November 12, 2008 I would call them jerk baits. I rig them either weightless on a 3-0 offset hook for shallow water or texas rig with the size of the bullet weight determined by the depth that I want to fish. I fish them with a slow retrieve with a twitch and pause. They normally crush it on the pause. Quote
Jake. Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 There are suspending jerkbaits like these: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_29823_100005002_100000000_100005000_100-5-2 And then there are soft plastic jerk baits like the Zoom Fluke. I try to fish Flukes to make them look like a dying shad or minnow. Cast it out, let it sink for a few seconds, twitch it a few times then let it sink and repeat. Quote

Super User Marty Posted November 13, 2008 Super User Posted November 13, 2008 Flukes, Slug-Gos, Bass Assassins and other baits are in a category called Soft Jerkbaits. They will dart erratically after a twitch. I fish Super Flukes/Bass Assassins with a 4/0 extra-wide-gap hook with a twitch-and-pause retrieve, letting them sink into holes in the weeds or at the edges if fishing vegetation. Quote

Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted November 13, 2008 Super User Posted November 13, 2008 It would be nice to make a sticky for flukes like the one for senkos.Add topwater frogs to the list too. Quote

mrbassky Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 You can also fish them on Sworming Hornet type jig heads and Scrounger Heads. SHHHHHHHH! Scroungers suck, they don't work! I watched a show with A.Martens who makes the scrounger I am sure you know. He said the key is to make bottom contact or contact some type of hard structure (bridge pillings). I havent thrown them much but he describes them as something like how you would fish a sworming hornet. I now have a small sworming hornet head and scrounger box. Have you found the secret with them??? pm me... :-X Quote
Super User Marty Posted November 14, 2008 Super User Posted November 14, 2008 weightless? Almost all of the time. However, there have been times when I added a rubber core sinker with the rubber removed to the hook shank when I wanted some additional weight. If you don't add too much weight, the erratic action is still there. Quote
HookMaster Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 There are tons of ways to fish a fluke. IMO i like to use a fluke like a sammy. I have had good success doing this but it all depends on the mood of the fish. I say experiment with the techniques and let the fish tell you what they want. Quote
