jjbassjj Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Caught her on a nightfishin trip on a zoom 10.5 inch ole monster worm in black w/ blue fleck in about 12 feet of water on a submerged beaver dam. I didnt have a scale...measured tho...she was 26 inches.......So what do yall think she weighs? Quote
Super User Tin Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 Don't know, but it looks like you need some fiber in your diet. Quote
deadeye32. Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 based on your face, I would say about 30lbs. give or take a few ounces. Probobly 7-8lb. Nice fish though no matter how much it weighs. Great Job Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 I'd say get a scale. It is impossible to tell weight from a photo. Quote
jjbassjj Posted September 25, 2008 Author Posted September 25, 2008 yeah i have one of those berkley lip grip scales but i gotta get some batteries for it.... and my face is like that bc my sister didnt know how to use the camera and i was holding the fish up forever lol!! Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 26 x 26 x 14 = 7.89 Pounds 1200 Memorize this formula: Length X Length X Girth = Pounds 1200 I estimated the girth at 14 inches so redo your measurments from the photo and recalculate to see what weight you promulgate. Nice lady! You did good! Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 Where did you catch her? Why were you out night fishing when you needed to be home doing homework? ;D ;D ;D Quote
jjbassjj Posted September 25, 2008 Author Posted September 25, 2008 hahahaha i did all my hw and was back by 9:30 i live right across from the lake.(65 acre lake) Quote
rondef Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 I would say it is time to buy batteries for your scale. That is a nice looking bass. Quote
Jeremy D. Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Nice fish, thats a monster....8lbs. I would guess Quote
Certified Public Angler Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 This is exactly why I don't go fishing without my scale in my bag. I would be so ticked if I caught that pup and never knew for sure. lol. Great looking fish! Quote
-HAWK- Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Nice fish!! Im gonna guess between 8 1/2 to 9lbs maybe more. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 I think I know the lake you are speaking. Never fished it for bass. Do not live in the rich subdivision ;D so I have no place to launch my boat. Great catch. I heard there were bass that size in the lake and now you have proved it. You get an A+. Do you attend Clover Hill High School? Quote
BirdNestBen Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 I'd say just guessing 9.5 to 10 lbs....... 26 in. is huge!!!!!!!!!!! I finally realized you do need a scale!!!!!!!!!! caught one yesterday I swore was 5.5 to 6- real fat and weighed in at a meager 3.5 lbs.... but having said all that has to be at least 9 lbs......... Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 It weighs "enough" enough to know you done good enough to want to know how much exactly enough to teach you not to go w/o a working scale NOT enough to counterbalance the tire "T to the I" has been growing around his mid section , don't fret the haters, they're just jealous of us guys who were made for speed instead of comfort Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 Very nice bass, great pic, too! Weight? Long, skinny and no belly. Either side of 6 lbs. 8-) Quote
Super User flechero Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 I'd say just guessing 9.5 to 10 lbs....... 26 in. is huge!!!!!!!!!!! I finally realized you do need a scale!!!!!!!!!! caught one yesterday I swore was 5.5 to 6- real fat and weighed in at a meager 3.5 lbs.... but having said all that has to be at least 9 lbs......... You almost doubled the weight in your guess! You killed your own credibility and then said "has to be at least 9 lbs" - how? You swore the other was 5.5-6. I'll give you 7-8 on the first fish, but you have to buy a new scale (and use it) before it goes 9-10. ;D No matter the actual weight, you caught a GREAT fish. Bring the scale always and catch another one like that... we all want to know the real weight also!! Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted September 25, 2008 Super User Posted September 25, 2008 NICE BASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a biggun that's for sure. Quote
BirdNestBen Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 yeah I am from Texas and we all tend to exaggerate....... but I swear the bass I caught last week was at least 5.5, but he was only 3.5!!!!! so no I don't have any credibility guessing weights you are correct.... which goes to say get a scale or measure the length and the girth.... you have to have both to get the formula correct...... Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted September 26, 2008 Super User Posted September 26, 2008 That is a very nice fish. I think it is 8lb+. I love the ol' monster. Quote
Eddie Munster Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I agree with road warrior that it is a tad skinny w/no belly. For comparison the bass in my avatar is 24.5" long and weighed a little over 8lbs on a spring scale (not the most accurate but close enough for government work). Based on that and the 26" it measured I'll guess about 6.5-7 lbs. If you hook that one in spring I'm guessing you'll come close to a double digit fish. NICE FISH BUD! 8-) Quote
