I oftentimes read the great posts and view the nice pictures of some beautiful bass. I appreciate the advice and tips I gain from all of you sharing. I wanted to share a quick story about my son and I and our recent summer fishing trips. We have had quite a great summer catching a lot of fish and quite a few BIG fish too! We have a family trophy that is passed back and forth to the daily winner between my son and I after each of our fishing outings acting like a mini family tournament. I have to mention that my son is six years old. He has been fishing with me since he was 2.5 years old and now he is very good. He has all his own gear, selects his own baits, ties his own knots, lips the bass, nets the bass for me also and releases the fish back for us. Well, this summer he has personally caught at least five fish over 5 lbs and if he keeps this up he will have a lot of great stories to tell into the future! I tell him that he has to share his knowledge with others now and always remember to take others fishing and if he were to have kids in the future to promise to take them fishing, etc. He is amazed as I that so many different kids that we talk to at school and church his age have never been fishing and they are 6-8 years old. Anyways.. a late afternoon this past August we were fishing in our flooded trees area where we often times get hung up on a submerged tree when my son says, Dad, I think I have a BIG one on!!! I quickly reply...yeah a big stick fish as him being 6 I felt he must just be caught again on one of the trees.. Well I hear him again, Dad...get the net I have a BIG one. Now, I turn and look and see..WOW he does have a nice fish on and after we land this fish with GREAT EXCITEMENT! After our quick pictures and release back into the water we both give the high fives and have the blood pumping with smiles! I tell him how awesome that was and that he did that all by himself. He picked the spinnerbait (Booyah), he tied the not, he caught the fish, he lipped it and the works! Hopefully I will have many more stories to share about our trips. Thanks for allowing us to share our fun story with you.

Not only do you have a wonderful story you have your Christmas card setup ready to go.

Wow.  Six years old and doing what he does is outstanding.

I take a seven year old heathen fishing and he is a disaster.  And his 10-year old brother is a little better.

Keep those stories and pics coming.  :)

dabroncos that is an awesome story and great pics too. What a cute little guy you have there. I too fish with my kids and let me say that I would rather fish with no one else. They are so much fun and it is always awesome to see things though their eyes. Your a great dad. Keep up the good work.  ;D ;D

picture came out fuzzy as I am still learning.

Dabroncos, you may not be an expert with the camera set up but you are that and more in the Great Dad area.

What a wonderful world you are creating with your terrific son and I know there will be many awesome adventures through out his life with you as his example.

Congratulations to you and your Family

Don't teach him all your tricks. It's not right for the apprentice to beat the master  :P

Thanks for all the nice posts and comments. I read these with my son who was first very excited to see his pictures on the computer and smiled when he read the comments!  Thanks again we will continue to post and comment on this site and look forward to reading more.  Logan and I will be fishing a lot of tournaments this year so I am looking forward to posting pictures and results.  At the tournaments it appears he is the only one under 25 years old and will be nice when he gets to hold a plaque for placing!  I have told him our days will come and when they do we will share them with you.  Thanks, Paul
