Went to one of my favorite harbors on Lake Erie Sunday. We ended up with 35+ largemouth in the  12" to 13" and a few nice keepers. Here are some pics of the better fish...OH yeah I caught at least 15 drum too. Not a stellar day but fun!!!!!

well it sound slike a fun day, but your buddy does not look like he is enjoying his self at all! Tell him to SMILE! lol

Thats sooo funny! He was having a hard time dealing with other boaters running their 40 footers past us at 100 MPH and the heavy wind. He was having anger managment issues for sure Sunday. On top of that for every bass he caught the was a drum that came next. Now Drum or Sheephead are a great fighter but they get annoying when they put up a 10 minute battle and, you just want to catch bass.

When you live as close to Erie as I do and fish for smallies as much as I do, it can get a little boring! I like to cast and, dragging tubes is like catfishing sorta. I can drop shot but, I hate it really bad. About the only dropshotting I will do is in tourneys and other methods aren't working. There are some big smallie pics in the smallie section.

Wow!  This thread really surprised me, I thought everyone that fished Lake Erie targeted smallmouth. It never occurred to me that people caught green fish, too.

Nice pics!

Those are nice largemouth.  I caught a few too.  You can bet there are in those jetties.

I know when I first got to Lake Erie, I was content in catching those drum the entire first couple of days.  But as time wore on they got pretty annoying to catch.  It got to where you could tell it was a drum just from the way they pecked at your line.

Nice pictures though.

Just about every large harbor on Erie hold great largemouth too. We usually catch a little better quality than these but it was very hot and, we didn't remember how much traffic would be there on Sundays. We thought we would save the better spots for last. Wrong move with all the traffic and wind! RW I have finished 5th in a 80 boat field with a limit of largemouth a little over 16 lbs. a couple years ago. Either brown or green Erie has got em. Ya gotta get up here RW

Man, I would really like to fish Lake Erie, but I have a question:

You guys that live closer can pick your days, but if I come up

I need a Plan B. Where can you fish in the neighborhood if the

lake is unfishable? (For a sissy like me, that means 3 or 4' waves!)

We went that day to target largemouth! Talk about an underrated green fish fishery!! But as far as plan B's there are numerous inland reservoirs and natural lakes that have good action within an hour from Cleveland. Using Cleveland (Stay in a suburban hotel!!!!) as a central location would give you many options to launch at Erie. There are numerous ramps along the lake. You don't have to run 30 miles unless your in a tourney and feel you need to. Most times you can go as few as two miles and be on big smallies. I problably fish Erie for largemouth almost as much as I do for smallmouth. Come up in late October and you can catch tons of largemouth along with big steelhead in the harbors. We talked to a DNR taking a creel survey and he said more smallies are staying in the harbors through the summer thanks to our closed season. I don't know if thats BS but we have been catching more smallies in that particular harbor.

BTW nice shirt you have LOL

-NItroman ;)

Thank you Nitro , Unfortunatly the D.A.R.E program was discontinued. I still support the cause though!

D.A.R.E. was discontinued.....huh???? It's still being taught here and as far as I know it's still being taught worldwide.

You mean discontinued where you are?

I've been a D.A.R.E. instructor for 10 years...... ;)

Yeah, Maybe they have restarted the program but, not to my knowledge. They used to have a few D.A.R.E. officers with logoed cars. My daughter is 8 and since she has been in school I have not seen one. I have had that shirt for like 16 years literally. I am from the Akron, Ohio area and heard at one time D.A.R.E had lost it's funding and would be cancelled here. Maybe it has been started again but, not to my knowledge.
