c17Lat Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Nanjemoy creek, potomac river 8/23/08 6-11 am lures: buzzbait, spinnerbait, t-rigged plastics, dt fat 3 cover fished: docks and laydowns I decided to go to a new part of the potomac today before i go back to school tomorrow, the area where skeet reese won on the river last year. I even recognized one of the docks i fished from the footage that they played on the elites tv show. considering that the weekly potomac river report from a DC newspaper read "All the creeks have been productive, save perhaps for the Nanjemoy," and that this was the only thing i had heard about the fishing in that creek all summer, i wasn't expecting to do very well and i didn't. i had everything i was fishing pretty much all to myself but i could only catch this white perch 30 yards from the launch on my way back in. i didn't end the summer on a high note, but at least i was able to get out on the water one last time. dumb_dog11 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 WOW, you caught a Nanjemoy Golden Perch...those things are extremely rare, what a catch congrats jk...sorry about your tough day Quote
JShrock07 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Let me be the first to tell you that if you are new to the Potomac River no matter where you are fishing this river is one of the most difficult bodies of water that I have ever fished!!! I do not have a big enough boat to get to Nanjemoy Creek due to the waves out on the main river. But I have always wanted to try it out. One thing I should add about the Potomac river is that right now the best fishing you will find is on the grass flats out on the main river. BTW that perch is the perfect size to get out on the main river and take a hook through his back and catch you a big ole catfish like I have in my Avatar... That is how I caught that one. -Nitroman Quote
