What type of line works best for the leaders? Maybe it shows in one of the links, but I'm looking what you guys have personally found that works. Also, what type of rod works best for this application? Can I still get by with my regular fluke rod or does a little more beef help? I was thinking a MH rod with braid for the main line and some heavy duty mono or flouro for the leaders.

I learned this technique from a tarpon fisherman in Florida a number of years ago. The rig can be set up many different ways, the sliding swivel (like a trolley rig) works fine, but I have eliminated it and just tie on a leader from the main swivel. I do not use 2 flukes, I like using a x-rap on the main leader and a fly on the top leader, has worked for snook and tarpon. Have tired it in freshwater using a smaller x-rap and fly, has worked for bass and I've caught a double header that way. Don't do it too often, I prefer a single bait.

Thank you for contacting the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

As long as one is fishing for gamefish with a rod and reel, there is no limit to the number of hooks / bait that may be on the line.

When fishing with a rod and reel for gamefish(bass in particular)is it illegal to have more than one bait or hook per line? (IE: 2 soft plastic baits with hooks tied to one line)

I'm confused.....I fish the double fluke, here in TN, often. But I am coming to FL in March. So can I fish the double fluke or not? lol.

I use the same line as I'm spooled with, 12# P-Line CXX. A 7' MH/F casting rod works fine.
