Still a Bigbuckifan Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 The fish was cought in a little pond that me and my friend stoped at for 20 quick minutes of fishing. I fooled this fish with a Chartreuse popper on a 8 weight fly rod . This is my biggest bass to date on a fly rod. about 2 1/4 pounds Quote
JShrock07 Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 Ain't much on fly fishing but still a nice bass!!! ;) Quote
LCpointerKILLA Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 thats a small 2 1/4 pounder, but cool you caught it on fly Quote
NEKvt Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 Nice work with the fly rod. Thanks for not putting it in your mouth for the photo. Quote
Chad. Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 thats a small 2 1/4 pounder I've come to the conclusion that photos lie Quote
Super User T-rig Posted July 28, 2008 Super User Posted July 28, 2008 Well done! I'd love to catch one like this on a flyrod! Quote
shaw24 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Not a bad fish at all. I caught a 2lb smallie the other night on my flyrod...it was a fun fight! Quote
Simp Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 thats a small 2 1/4 pounder I've come to the conclusion that photos lie They can but I've caught enough 2lber to know what they look like. IMHO that fish is more like 1.5lbs. Now if he weighed it and it's 2 1/4 lb I believe the man but if he's guessing that's another story. It's bigger then anything I've ever caught on a fly rod though! The only reason some would say anything about the weight is how crazy some "quotes" of fish weights are. This year I bought a couple decent scales and a tape measure to get solid info. I now measure and weigh almost every fish over 2 lb. It's a neat extra hobby I like to do and I've learned allot about fish weight. Pics can be decieving but I think that fish is closer to 1.5lb then 2 1/4. Quote
Still a Bigbuckifan Posted July 30, 2008 Author Posted July 30, 2008 I weighted that bass on boga grips( only thing I had on me) It read a little over the 2 pound line. so I called it 2 1/4. It could be 2.3 or 2.2 all I Know It's the biggest bass I've cought on a Fly. Also I'm Preaty big 6'1'' 255. Quote
DaveHawkins Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I have caught lmb on small water that is very similar to the one in your pic. A good size mouth, decent length...but no girth! I think it's because he was caught it in a tiny pond with minimal forage. I am guessing that fish is older than his weight is telling. He may not have enough to eat to fill out his profile! Quote
