Fishin247365 Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Krugey nice pictures and thanks for sharing. That being said, hang on to your shorts!! I anticipate a verbal spanking from many members for not throwing the big one back or releasing all of them for that matter. How big was that big one? Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted July 19, 2008 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted July 19, 2008 Dude you are going to get hammered.......Welcome to the forum..and it's your right to keep the fish you catch, but I would not show them... And, were you fishing by yourself? What is the legal limit on bass in NY? Quote
-HAWK- Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 You plan on having fish for dinner for the next month? Why would you keep so many bass?? I can see keeping a few of the smaller ones, but why the big girl? > Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted July 19, 2008 Super User Posted July 19, 2008 If you are within the legal limit I will be the first to say congratulations. I personally have not kept a fish in over thirty years, but you have every right to clean and fry each and every one of them. Good pictures FYI, I know a few lakes that would be in a lot better shap if more anglers would keep a few now and then. It is good for a lake to have a harvest. I agree that you will probably get hammered for the dead fish, however, I hope you do not. Pull the cinch strap tight and hang on. Welcome to the forum also. Quote
HopelesslyAddicted Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Man I hope he's at least going to eat them if he killed them. People who kill fish for no reason just strike the wrong chord with me. That being said I have nothing against this guy its jmo... Quote
Krzkev Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 So what is that, 9 dead fish today and 9 tommorow, aww why not go for 20 tommorow see how fast you start catching zero every time you go fishing, just a little friendly advice. Quote
Super User David P Posted July 19, 2008 Super User Posted July 19, 2008 Thankfully, you don't live in California. Nice fish. Quote
Krugey Posted July 19, 2008 Author Posted July 19, 2008 it was me and my father that went. and we eat fish on a regulart basis. the bass we make steaks out of. Also as well this resviour that i fished is EXTREMELY over popullated...some of the bass i caught had such big humps in their back they look liek that disney guiy with the huntch. theres alot more bigs one where they come from. but i look at it like this. its better to keep the fish and eat em instead of letting them just die for show. in this day and age in NY saving acouple of fish that will alst you..well to me it saves a lil bit money in our pockets. and the limit is 5 per person. *by the way we only fished this place 2 times. and where going one mor etime for the season. we jsut hit up here when we wanna stiock up on food. warmer Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 krugey my man i wouldnt sweat it. two years ago i got on a kick on the pit that i live on where i would encourage everyone to catch and release only. result: skinny fish and fish kill... the balance is a delicate thing, and the harvesting of bass is important in the process... nice fish Quote
HopelesslyAddicted Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Well I guess its cool if you're eating them. I didn't know if you were just some crazy guy who goes around killing bass lol. Still, put the big one back and let her grow! Quote
Pond Hopper Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Nice fish, and one of the best fisheries I have ever been to needed some serious thinning out of fish. Every body of water is different but to me, it is easy to see when fish need to be harvested although the bigger fish always get released. Quote
