I took my dad and youngest son Gavin out for a short 4 hour trip Sunday evening after most of the vacationers got off the water.

Man all I can say is "my boy made daddy proud!"

We were fishing ledges about 15-20 ft. deep. Gavin wanted to throw his favorite, shakeyhead worm. Seemed he chose wisely. ;)

I caught the first fish at about 3 lbs. Then Gavin went to schooling his father and the one before him! He was up 3-1 on his old man. And that's 3 keepers in about thirty minutes. We had a great day and my cheeks are still strained from smiling. Gavin ended up catching four fish and three of them being keepers. I'd like to have had him out longer to see if he could have got his limit. The young man is only 7 yrs. old. He put one on his grandfather....and kept up with dad pretty well! We ended up catching 14 fish. Gavin had two of em' pushing 3 lbs. Not bad for a youngin' fishing ledges!

Here's some pics:

Great post CJ.  It looks like you've got a new tournament partner.  I guess Gavin is going to lay claims to the next boat you win. ;D

Man CJ, that is absolutely awesome!  My boy is 4 and he's eat up with it whether we're catching fish or not.  Can't wait til he's old enough to fish with me like that.  You're starting him on the right track for sure!

I'm sure you were smiling, but tell me which of you three was smiling the most, (Gavin)?

Great fish by the way.

Thanks guys! Gavin has been fishing since he was 3 years old. Shakeyhead worms are ideal for him to fish deep. With the right hook, real sharp lightwire, when he feels a bite all he has to do is real down and the fish sets the hook itself most of the time. It really takes a kid with enough patience to stay focused and not give up. He just doesn't lose interest like most youngins' do.

Thanks for the replies! I've read all of the replies to him and it really puts a smile on his face!  :)
