I hadn't been fairing real well at the one pond I fish from time to time on the way home from work. Well last thursday, I figured out why. I was talking to one of the guys I see there regularly and he told me they had treated thepond for algea. When they do this, the bass seem to shut down for a week or two. Well, it had been about a week and a half since they treated it so I figured I'd give it a go this evening. It started out pretty slow but I managed one dink on a wacky rigged Tiki Stick. Then the weather had changed so I felt a lure change was called for so I opted for a spinnerbait! So I picked out a 3/8oz bluegill colored skirt with a colorado willowleaf blade combination and made a few casts. About the 5th cast, I launched the spinnerbait out near the water fountain that's out in the middle of the pond. I made it a whole 4 or 5 turns of the handle when she crushed it! She immediately came out of the water and I knew it was a good one! Two more jumps and she settled down. I wrestled her to the bank and finally put my thumb in her lip! I took a quick measurement (21 1/4") held her back in the water for a minute for her to catch her breathe then back out for a weight (4lbs 6oz) and a quick pic! Sorry for the poor quality of the pic (I only had the cell phone with me and luckily I found someone nice enough to take this pic for me). Here's the pic:

nice fish old man!!!!! ;D  Just have one question.  Are you ready for the float down the juniata yet?  I hear we might be having 2 this year.  Think you can handle 2 floats down that river this summer?  I hope the answer is yes.  Looking forward to floating with you again this year. I know how you enjoy floating that river.

Hey LBH, I am sure that if you really wanted to come down to PA and fish with us we can provide you with dates and times to make it happen.  I am a firm believer in the phrase "the more the merrier".  I am sure that we could all learn something from each other.  Basser needs the most help on the Juniata he can not seem to do anything on that river except cry. :'( :'(

Nice fish basser! That would be nice to make 2 trips this year. The More The Merrier, the waters big enough to share!

Nice job getting on the citation board basser. You have problems with a river? I must say I am shocked I thought you trained with the best. Hehe

For the record LBH, mjhutch is my cousin AND IS a YEAR OLDER than I am! ;D And you'd be more than welcome on the floats! Although, from the last I talked to the "coordinator" of the float, we're hitting a lake (I hadn't heard of the second float yet myself). Someone will have to bring me up to speed on the second one! LOL!

What hutch is talking about is a section I used to fish many many moons ago that USED to be a really productive stretch! But now, the majority of that section has an average depth of about 1 1/2'. At least for me, it's not a fun stretch to fish anymore.

Thanks fish and moby!

MskSlyr, all I'll say is you know what I can do in productive water! ;)
