6/28 I drove around to a couple places I like to shorefish, with no luck other than a rock bass. I was driving home feeling kind of down, and decided to throw a few casts at a little residential pond. A couple casts in, this fatty scooped up my jig ;D

How much you think she weighs? My guess was around 4 or so.

That picture is an especially tough picture to guess a weight, but that mouth is very big. Just by looking at it's mouth with your hand, I'd say 5 - 6

Yeah, it is definitely tough to tell from that picture. If it helps, and if any of you guys are golfers, my hand is a cadet medium  :)

I forgot to mention that this was my first fish on my new Revo/Carrot Stix setup. Got to test out the drag too, which I realized was a little too loosely set.

that thing has a really big mouth but it looks skinny from the pic, so i'd say it would weigh 5lbs.

darn good fish!!! :D

I agree! But then it also depends on the size of your hand. But I'm sure that fish is over 5lbs. Nice catch! 8-)

Realized long ago that I'm really lousy at guessing weights (especially if I catch it ;D). Whatever it weighs, NICE fish...

Thanks guys   :)

Got her in a couple casts. Went back to that pond a couple days later for an hour and a half without so much as a sniff  :-/ That's bass fishin'.

Solid 4-4.5lber for New England. Way to go! :)

This time of year they almost always look bigger than they really are. So many times I've caught some big looking fish, only to weigh them and come up as 3 or 3.5 when they look like 4's and 5's.

(And yes, the scale is accurate  ;))
