Tokyo Tony Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 6/28 I drove around to a couple places I like to shorefish, with no luck other than a rock bass. I was driving home feeling kind of down, and decided to throw a few casts at a little residential pond. A couple casts in, this fatty scooped up my jig ;D How much you think she weighs? My guess was around 4 or so. Quote
Daniel My Brother Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Just about impossible to tell how big she is from that pic, but a beautiful fish just the same. Nicely done. Quote
Super User David P Posted June 30, 2008 Super User Posted June 30, 2008 That picture is an especially tough picture to guess a weight, but that mouth is very big. Just by looking at it's mouth with your hand, I'd say 5 - 6 Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted June 30, 2008 Author Posted June 30, 2008 Yeah, it is definitely tough to tell from that picture. If it helps, and if any of you guys are golfers, my hand is a cadet medium I forgot to mention that this was my first fish on my new Revo/Carrot Stix setup. Got to test out the drag too, which I realized was a little too loosely set. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted June 30, 2008 Super User Posted June 30, 2008 that thing has a really big mouth but it looks skinny from the pic, so i'd say it would weigh 5lbs. darn good fish!!! Quote
Super User T-rig Posted June 30, 2008 Super User Posted June 30, 2008 That picture is an especially tough picture to guess a weight, but that mouth is very big. Just by looking at it's mouth with your hand, I'd say 5 - 6 I agree! But then it also depends on the size of your hand. But I'm sure that fish is over 5lbs. Nice catch! 8-) Quote
rondef Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Nice hawg I think it looks bigger than 4lbs, I would say 5 to 6. Quote
skillet Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Realized long ago that I'm really lousy at guessing weights (especially if I catch it ;D). Whatever it weighs, NICE fish... As Ever, skillet Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 Thanks guys Got her in a couple casts. Went back to that pond a couple days later for an hour and a half without so much as a sniff :-/ That's bass fishin'. Quote
basspimple Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 nice catch! ive had lots of days like that. go fishing at a couple spots, with nada... then BAM! one hefty before the days over. ;D Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Solid 4-4.5lber for New England. Way to go! This time of year they almost always look bigger than they really are. So many times I've caught some big looking fish, only to weigh them and come up as 3 or 3.5 when they look like 4's and 5's. (And yes, the scale is accurate ) Quote
