I know you all have talked about these rising gas prices but it is rediculous to say the least. My dad loves to fish and goes all the time and i wish i could fish like him b/c i absolutely love fishing and going with him but i just can't afford to go...IT SUCKS!!!

A friend and I take turns every other weekend. One time we take his truck and boat then the next time mine. And if I have a little extra on the in-between weekends I go to a local TM only lake.

It's bad when you try to get a little overtime during the work week to fish the weekend, lol.

Look at it this way.

First, great memories are worth the price.  One day your dad will be gone and having good memories and photos of your fishing adventures is something to cherish and to share with your kids.

Second, fishing helps your mental health.  You can relax, enjoy the beauty of nature and pit your skills against an animal with a brain the size of a marble.

(Guess who wins that battle.)

Yes, it is expensive, and yes, you may have to cut back on your outings, but please view your fishing ventures as something you are doing for yourself and your dad.

Arn't you and your dad worth the money?  ;)

I don't get it.  Is your dad charging you to go fishing with him?  I take my son out fishing all the time and I have never asked him to pay for anything.  I even purchase extra lures that I like so he can have some for his tacklebox too.

Oh yeah   to the forum.

Man, do I hear your pain!!!

I just took a new job position at UPS, less money, no overtime,a few less hours, all in the same month that I traded my 4cyl jetta in for a 4runner,lol.

So now, I'm out of work by 11a every day but can only swing the gas to get to the lake 3-4 days/week (weekends included) so instead of fishing 6-7 days like I'm available to, I am fishing 3-5 days.  Now that I write it out, maybe I shouldn't complain but sitting at home when you are available to be at the lake still sucks, even if you'll be there tomorrow.

No feeling sorry for you here. I wish I could fish half that much.
