Cocoon Sunglasses

I'm not sure how many out there were eyeglasses like I do, but I was wondering if anyone has tried these sunglasses out. They are slightly larger than regular polarized sunglasses becuase they fit over eyeglasses. I am only going to wear these things fishing, and I know they are not going to be too stylish, but I don;t want to buy them if I am going to look like my great great aunt in them.

I don't even wear glasses but I bought a set because they were good for the money.  They look kinda dorky but I can see the fish real well and they keep the wind outta my eyes when on plane.

I had some and they gave me headaches where they pushed against my regular glasses.  I sold them Thursday to the guy in the back of my boat.

Yes, they do look a little dorky, but I think the optics and coatings are very good; and they're great for blocking extraneous light from top/bottom and sides. They're better than less expensive brands on the market (lower quality lenses and very hard, rigid frames). The side components are well hinged and the plastic side pieces can be shaped to adjust for tension behind the ears. You size your Cocoon selection according to the shape/dimensions of you prescription glasses. Naturally, larger prescription frames need a larger "cover" frame. I scoured the area to find a dealer so I could try on different sizes to avoid looking like Atom Ant, and would encourage anyone contemplating Cocoons to do the same. This brand is definitly above the competition and worht the $10-20 difference.

After buying a pair of Cocoons I opted for some Maui Jim's with a gradient bifocal. Dropped about $800 to look cooo. Majority of the time I'm wearing the Cocoons.

It's only my opinion, but I'd definitly recommend them to someone wearing Rx.

I don't use the Cocoons, but a similar type called FitOvers. I have the amber lense and gray lense models. I do have the Cocoon brand clip-on though. Due to my perscription, I cannot use any of the wrap around type frames. All of my prescription polarized sunglasses are about the same shape as the fitover type sunglasses. The fish don't care what you look like with them on.

I wore contact lenses for awhile all through highschool and most of college up until abotu a year ago. To be honest, I don;t really miss them that much. I got them in high school to lose the glasses and the dorky look, but now I don;t mind wearing them.

But they are a pain to put in and take out, and then if you lose one during the day, or one is giving you trouble you walk around half blind.

They do look dorky and they are a little cumbersome. I used them for a couple years and they did work,but they did cause irritation and sorness,with the added bulk caused by having to fit over my glasses. Now I use Wallmart  clip on with the little clips on the corners of the lens. NOT the cheap "flip up" style. They sell them in the optical dept. I've also gotten some from shopko optical. They are about $18 bucks but well worth it. I'd pay three times that much for the use I get from them. Like most older guys, contacts arn't the answer when you need bi-focals.

I have a pair of prescription sunglasses. I know thats not the most popular choice because of price but most eyeglass places have deals when you purchase your regular glasses to get a second pair free or at a discount. You can usually talk them into letting that second pair be sunglasses.

The clip ons actually look decent if you match them up just right. I wear contacts but I have some new eye issues that make glasses much more comfortable. I just bought these clip ons and love them. I got the amber lenses and they perform very well....easy to take on and off, and have a lifetime warranty. Plus you don't have to have the bulkyness of the fitovers.
