Rob.Atl Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 I caught this hawg around 2:00 on a grass shore with a black and blue senko. It weighed 9lbs, it was like 19 inches lol it was so fat At first i didnt even noticed i had a fish on, I thought that I was stuck in a log or something but then my line started to move and i started taking my drag So i knew it was huge, It was actually a really good fight. I thought it was a DD though > but im fine with a 9lber I had a great day 8-) Quote
BassinAssassin171 Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 ...you sure it wasn't an upside down 6? Quote

btcprince Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 nice fish....beating your PB by 3 pounds is awesome Quote
Castamasta Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 nice fish dude! what a day. what a day. castamasta and bassmasterrob with 20lbs for four fish on the day!! new spot ftw Quote
Daiwa Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 And now your leading the ABC tournie. NICE FISH!! Quote
KB Nation Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Awesome fish and congrats on the new PB! Im sure it will look great on the wall! Congrats! Quote
rocknfish9001 Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Im not doubting the weight of the fish, I can't argue that because the fish in my avatar is 7lbs, and looks like a 4lber. But according to weight calculators (and some personal experience) a 19 inch bass will not break 9 lbs unless it has a 25 1/2 inch girth, and the fish doesn't appear to be 1 1/3 times as fat as it is long. Its probably longer than 19 inches, and the length of the fish is required if you want to mount it, since a vast majority of taxidermists charge by the inch. However, nice fish, congrats on a new pb! Super User Grey Wolf Posted May 19, 2008 Super User Posted May 19, 2008 i decided im going to get it mounted That's to bad. Quote
Rob.Atl Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 as in a replica mount i let the fish go so i dont see how thats bad and btw i dont really care if u doubt the weight i weighed it my friend (castamasta) was there and was in the same boat, the picture may not justify the bass since my fish is not extreemly close to the camera and im not holding it out with streched arms, it may have been a little longer than that since i did the length quickly on this littler ruler thing on the boat but i wanted to get the fish back in the water Quote
Castamasta Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 x2 on the bad pic but still 9 lbs. if you want a mount who cares what everyone else thinks unless its a 4 lber (henry) Quote
-HAWK- Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Its so hard to judge the weight of a fish from a picture. IF two people weighed the fish, and both agree that the fish is 9lbs. How can someone that did not see the fish dispute the weight? Its kind of a pointless battle to try. Quote
Rob.Atl Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 x2 on the bad pic but still 9 lbs. if you want a mount who cares what everyone else thinks unless its a 4 lber (henry) LOL ;D what a noob castamasta+rob=team ownage Quote
rocknfish9001 Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 I know how the whole bad pic thing goes, there are few times i was super excited because i just caught another 5lber, but the camera makes it look like a 2lber. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 20, 2008 Super User Posted May 20, 2008 Congratulations! That's a fine fish. Regarding the picture. I have been catching some nice fish on a new "secret pond". Last week I caught a fine fish that was probably something north of 7 lbs. I don't usually carry a camera when bank fishing because the pictures just aren't interesting, but on this particular outing I had the camera. I had another fisherman take two pics, but I guess he thought I just wanted photos of me! I am not going to post the pic because the fish looks like it weighs about 1 1/2 lbs! Full of me, head to toe, but the bass didn't come out worth a mention. So, pictures can compliment a catch, but that is not always the case. 8-) Quote
Masshole Mike Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 awesome hawg man! definitely mount-worthy. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted May 21, 2008 Super User Posted May 21, 2008 Nice hawg! I don't think anyone doubted your weight, just the length. You shorted yourself. Quote
BassinAssassin171 Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Hey Rob, are you ABSOLUTELY SURE that the bass was 18 to 20 inches long? If so, the bass would have to be around 33 inches in girth to come to 9 pounds...... I don't think it was almost two times around as it was long.... Quote
Rob.Atl Posted May 21, 2008 Author Posted May 21, 2008 no im not sure i did the length in a hurry 22 inches probably at longest though and ijust checked my scale it was .5 to much so the bass was 8.5 and around 21-22 inches for all you haters out there now just let me enjoy my moment of glory 8-) without doubting me anymore Quote
BassinAssassin171 Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 haha you know i'm just bustin your chops rob... and you know how i like to be precise and stuff... P.S. still doesn't work out with 22 inches... hahahaha Quote
Rob.Atl Posted May 21, 2008 Author Posted May 21, 2008 i dont care if it doesnt work out with 22 inches u werent there so HA! and i just did the math and with 22 incher i needed 17.5 inch girth for it to be 8.5 lber so i dont think thats imposible ?and my scale isnt off by like 5 pounds trust me it wasnt a dink and my statement was to be taken as a joke AL and btw how long was ur 9 lber then 89 inches? ;D Quote
