Muad Dib Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Well if you guys didnt see i just started on the forum. been listening and learning from all of you. Caught a PB the other day well 3 weeks ago on a nice texas rig. Fishing the same pond 3 hundred yards down today i was catching tons of smaller bass. Then i go and hook my superfluke in a tree. it was dangling the lure right on the waters surface so i let it fall thinking what the hell and the water erupted!!!! i saw a huge tail and i was wetting my pants. It was right in thick weeds and i only had 6lb test line, caught 15 smaller lb fish before and didnt redue my knots . i started walking through brush got all sorts of prickers in my crotch and face but ended up pulling in this Pig. dont know how much she weighed but i got her back in as soon as possible! Might have to get a replica done. heres two pictures of her with different light and angles Quote
thetr20one Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 That is a nice fish!!! :exclamation Congratulations. Quote
btcprince Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 a fatty...and well worth the prickers, right? did you get the length and girth for your replica? there is a calculator on this site that will tell you the estimated weight with that info. Quote
Muad Dib Posted May 15, 2008 Author Posted May 15, 2008 haha rough estimates on length and girth. see what the guy can do. where i fish catching a larger one would be as impossible as it could get then again.... ;D Quote
Todd Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Nice catch! The "over-the-branch" bite is always interesting! Quote
daviscw Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Nice fish dude! I've had that happen before, with a smaller fish of course! Quote
paul. Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 man that's real cool. well, except for the part about prickers in the crotch, peeing your pants, and not having a scale. ;D seriously, great story and awesome fish. i wouldn't blame you for wantin' a replica of that one at all. glad you released her too. Super User roadwarrior Posted May 15, 2008 Super User Posted May 15, 2008 Man, that's a shame you couldn't weigh that bass. She could be well over 10 lbs, but that is such an important number to most guys, it's really hard to say without a scale. Anyhow, CONGRATULATIONS! She's a beauty. 8-) Quote
Branuss04 Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Nice Fish Man!!!!! She looks like a DD to me. Need to have a scale ready next time. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted May 15, 2008 Super User Posted May 15, 2008 GREAT FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote

Davis Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Being from "Up North" That fish is HUGE for our Waters...... Great Job I was thinking the same thing. Thing has to be pushin 10 and definatley at least 8 which is a monster in our parts. Quote

Muad Dib Posted May 16, 2008 Author Posted May 16, 2008 well the guy who posted new pbpbpbpbp in the more recent post caught a fish what looks like the same size and says its around 8lbs so i guess its close to that 10 lbs maaaaaaaay be a lil too much hahaha ill take a 7.5 ;D Quote
mattm Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 Great fish. Awesome story. I would of guessed 7lbs, but you can't tell just by a pic. You need to get a scale. I've seen pictures of a 9lbers that looked smaller than yours, and pics of 5lbers that look bigger. Quote
Muad Dib Posted May 16, 2008 Author Posted May 16, 2008 hahah o well ill take 7lbs u got a nice fish by the way how much did that pig go for? Quote
-HAWK- Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 Wow pictures really throw a curve. From the picture i would not think that bass was any less than 9.5 pounds, probably 10. it is definetly time to invest in a scale Quote
