JCrzy4Bass Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Well Myself, Rondef, Dominion Dan and Angler N Fuego all made it out this morning depite passing showers. We fished for about 6 hours or so and caught 11 fish and lost countless others. All of us got a decent fish today. My dad found some great ponds using google maps a few cities away and we headed up and fished em'. First time at any one of these places. Mostly bussiness community ponds. I caught one that went about 12ozs or so, one for 1lb 11ozs, another at 1lb 12oz, and my best was 2lbs 13ozs. Most were caught on the Pumpkinseed senko texas rigged w/ 1/80z tungsten weight. The only other bait I caught on was the Red Eye Special Strike King Spinnerbait. My dad caught the big fish of the day at 3lbs 10oz on a Mann's Crankbait. He also caught a 3lb even fish on the same bait. He caught a small fish as well. Dan nailed a 2lb 13oz bass and a small fish. He lost one on a shakey head that was good size and may have been the best fish of the day. Andy tore up the last pond we went to catching a 2lb 7oz and another a little over a pound in just about an hours time or so. We all had a blast telling stories, catching fish, joking around and getting our boots soaked in the muddy shorelines. But that's bass fishing. We are back at it next weekend smallie fishing on the Rap weather permitting, first time wading this year (hoping the water goes down some this week). If not we found 3-4 more ponds on the way we are going to try. Well attached are the pics. Some of the other guys may chime in. I just wanted to say I had a blast and thanks to this place I have found some great friendships with some guys that love fishing just as much as I do and can have just as much fun. Even if the fish aren't huge, it's about the bond created between us when we are out there. Most fun Ive had fishing all year long. Thanks guys. I didn't get the pic of my 1lb 11oz, it was ugly, had a side fin missing that had been chomped off by something. My dad may post the pic of his 3lber later and Andy and Dan may post their other fish. These are just the shots I got throughout the morning. Thanks again guys. WOO HOO Bassresource!!! Quote
rondef Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Good report as always Jay. I had a really good time fishing with everyone as well and hope to have another get together again soon. To bad we were asked to leave the first pond, I have a feeling that place has some hawgs in it just based on what we were seeing in the 1 hour that we fished it. We will have to park on the other side of the pond next time so we can fish it again. We just learned that you can't park in a government contractors parking lot. We still have another 4 or 5 ponds that we spotted today that we need to check out and see how the fishing is. Andy and Dan don't forget to let me know what your schedules are like so we can get out on the Potomac one day. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted May 10, 2008 Super User Posted May 10, 2008 Thanks for posting the pictures, Jay. I just realized we were pretty lucky the rain stopped when it did, even if the fish bit like crazy when it was raining...it would have been miserable to be out there all that time if it was raining. I'm just glad I got that fish to bite that spinnerbait again (if it was indeed the same fish) because I was furious when she got off that first time. (BTW, I'm am a new fan of Picasso spinnerbaits) All the fish today had huge guts, they must really be feeding up. I hope we can get out next week to catch some smallies, I'll be checking the weather, gauges, and temps all week. Overall, a very good pondhopping excursion, thanks for the invite, guys. Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted May 10, 2008 Super User Posted May 10, 2008 Good job... that looks like a good spot to fish. Quote
rondef Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Actually we fished three different ponds today, we went pond hopping. Quote
Mepps Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Nice job today guys, looks like a good time was had by all. I was able to hit a pond today also, and actually had an awesome day as well 8-). I'll make a post in our section tomorrow. Quote
AnglerNFuego Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Thanks for the invite guys and as always had fun regardless of the weather. That Pumpkin seed Senko sure did help avoid a skunk. Jay finding your honey hole and hearing "man, you don't even have to do anything". That was funny as hell. Hahahahhaaaa... Dan is was great to finally meet you. I hope I get to make out for the Smallie outing Ron always pulling out the big'uns. I'll pm you my schedule for the rest of the month. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted May 11, 2008 Super User Posted May 11, 2008 "To bad we were asked to leave the first pond" Does that mean all you guys just went to those locations and fished without asking permission? Quote
MattStrykul Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 "To bad we were asked to leave the first pond" Does that mean all you guys just went to those locations and fished without asking permission? AWWW TISK TISK!!!! ;Djust playin guys. Quote
rondef Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Wanye, they did not want our vehicles parked in their parking lot. I don't know who the company was that owned the property (there are multiple companies surrounding the pond) or else I would have asked. They did not get upset with us they just politely asked us to leave their parking lot and we did. The other locations had no problem with us parking or fishing their ponds. The security guard even waved to us and watched us land a few. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted May 11, 2008 Super User Posted May 11, 2008 Thanks for the answer. I was concerned with the possibility of you guys advocating trespassing like in a thread a few months ago about "jumping a fence" to sneak into property to fish without permission. I assume you know that you need verbal permission on unposted property and written permission on posted property to meet the criteria of the Va. fish and game laws. Good fishing <*)))))<( Quote
Pigsticker Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Look who's talking matt you went trespassing today to go fishing. you were told to leave and didnt right, then hid under a dock until the people left ;D funny stuff Quote
MattStrykul Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Nobody asked me to leave ;D But I may have been chillin under than dock. Quote
