Super User T-rig Posted May 7, 2008 Super User Posted May 7, 2008 I found a good spot this afternoon and finally was catching some good size fish (from shore). Caught nine in all, most of them 3-5lbs., good size fish for around here. They were again caught on double wide beavers and I got a smaller one on a evergreen side step jerkbait. 5lber. Then I caught what I believe is my new PB (my old PB is 7.9lbs). Not sure because the batteries of my scale were low and I kept getting different readings, anywhere from 7.2 up to 8.3lbs.??? :-X I took the pics with the self timer of the camera, so don't laugh at the funny position I got! ;D What do you guys think, could that fish weight 8lbs? If so, I got myself a new PB! 8-) I love those double wide beavers! 8-) Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 7, 2008 Super User Posted May 7, 2008 I'd go with 8.3! Nice bass, great pic. 8-) Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted May 7, 2008 Super User Posted May 7, 2008 That is a great day of fishing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
TheBeast Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 The fish is a chunk but it is short, I would lean more toward the 7 lb. all those fish have big bodies but they aren't very long. Anyway that was a great day. Quote
paul. Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 either way, that's a biggun for sure! what a day! you really stuck it to 'em buddy! and those are some great pix. the mountains in the background are really cool looking. 8-) Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted May 7, 2008 Super User Posted May 7, 2008 I'm with RW, I'd go with 8.3 lbs. She's a toad!! Man, what a beautiful place you live in. Quote
Lavrax Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Ahhh...Great a new pb..Well done mate thats great, it looks at least 8.3 pounder.. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 7, 2008 Super User Posted May 7, 2008 If you could really tell from pictures, I'd say the bass in hawg caller's avatar is about 45, maybe 50 pounds! Quote
Mepps Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Easy 8lbs. Excellent catch, and what a awesome landscape to be fishing in. Quote
Vyron Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 dont kid ur self. i know ur very good at estimating a bass size its a new record . enjoy it WELL DONE!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Quote
Mrs. Matstone Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Congrats on your new personal best. What a nice fatty fish. ;D Quote
FivePoundBluegill Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Hey man what I dont get is that you already had the swiss record with that 7.9 LBer but you never got it certified. You probably would have set the record for your country again with this bass, its probably just as big if you got it certified. Do you like not care about getting your name in your countries record books? Yeah I fish for fun too but if I even catch a lake record fish id get it made official.... Quote
LCpointerKILLA Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 That fish just shows that there are some monsters in your lake and it will be no time before you catch a double digit! Quote

Nobody really cares for bass around here, except a few guys that fish for them. Alot people don't even know what a bass is. I would not gain anything by certifing the record. It's not like in the US where you can call a game warden to weigh the fish and even get a prize for a record. I would have to kill that fish to get it certified and that would be a shame. I rather have the memory of catching a fish like that then an official record. The thought of maybe catching that fish again is much more satisfying! Quote

I wish, but there has never been a DD caught around here. Bass have been around for about 100 years, if there were DD's in the lake, one would have been caught by now. Even 7lbers. are very rare and are considered huge around here. I wish I lived in the US! Quote
