.78 lb lunker wins tournament

I just ran into one of my tournament fishing friends.  He fished a tournament in central MA on Saturday.  It was cold, windy and rainy, but there were still 25 boats there.  2 fish were caught the entire day, .78 lbs being the biggest and .72 the other.  The .78 fish was lunker and took 1st place for $750.  WOW!

What is the length limit for keepers at this lake.  Are 0.78 and 0.72 lbs large enough to be keepers?

Senile - I asked the same question.  Yes they have to be 12 inches.  I guess one was questionable, but when he squeezed the tail fin together it barely reached 12 inches.  The other one was a bit over twelve but obviously skinny.

Dont watch it as a 0.78 pound fish.... BUT as a $$$750 Dollar fish!! 8-)

redtail, was that on quaboag (north) pond in brookfield? i saw a bunch of boats there during the day and figured it was a tournament. i've never been impressed with quaboag as far as bass fishing goes.

You can get an exemption from the legal size for tournaments.

We had a cold front and a ton of cold rain drop water temps from upper sixties/low seventies to mid to low fifties in 4 days (fish were all over beds last weekend), after our 20 degree warm up in two weeks. Fishing was brutal all over New England, I know around here it would only take 5 or 6 pounds to take home a couple hundred in a few tournies over the weekend. But now with the warm temps this week it should get things back to normal as long as we don't have another week like last after this one. :

I have seen a .72 weighed in in a club tourney they had to flip it over a few times to make it measure.LOL I don't think I would approach the scales with an .72 .To risky for me

You should see post-spawn 12" fish up here. I have seen some go .59, it is pretty pathetic. We had a usual Thursday night tourney right after they were on beds, 10 fish limit, winning weight was 9.97. Thats one of those things I will never forget.

LOL, 12" Bass weighing under a pound? Sounds like I'd fit right in! I could use the extra dough right about now.
