Cold Temp baits!

What are some good lures for when its cold outside? I'd say from about 30-60 degrees outside? Thanks for the help!

I've had some good luck in the local ponds tossing dark colored Yamamoto Flappin' Hogs and 4/5 inch Senkos. I've been using a Carolina Rig and popping them along the bottom. Seems to be working for me. It has been in the high 50's/lower 60's in my area.

Everythings been slowing down for me due to these falling temperatures. I can barely get a hit anywhere. But I will tell you what baits I've actually had hits with here and there.

Ive had a hit or two with lipless cranks, retrieved as slowly as I can go. I've had hits with jigs, worked slowly through stick piles. And I've had a hit or two with shallow cranks. Other then that, its been dead for me  :'(.

Seems the only thing i can catch a fish on lately is either the 4in senko!

Water temp is in the mid to upper 60's here and fish are still inhaling a crankbait or a jig.    

Northern strain bass here in clear Ozark lakes get along very well in cold water, however.......I have no qualms throwing a Spook until about Christmas.  If the water is anywhere above 50, they're still game for a lot of different techniques.

Though last year I was catching a bunch on buzz baits, of all things. ;D

I'll qualify my post by starting off that I fish the NYC reservoirs. Water temps in the 60's still had the LM Bass in a summer pattern. Jigs,  & tx rigged plastics along the outside weed edge, mostly in 8-12 FOW did the trick. As the temps have cooled into the low to mid 50s. we've gone deeper looking for green coontail weeds in 18-20 FOW. 1/2 oz jigs and Tx rigged creature baits with a 1/4 oz bullet weight have produced all the Bass so far.

I use the same jigs and plastics all year round, but I slow the presentation way down in the winter.

I just caught a nice size large-mouth on a Carolina rigged brown worm, even with these falling temps.

Water temperatures, on the smaller bodies of water here, are in the 50 degree range.  Smaller husky jerks, Lucky Craft DD 100s, and slow-rolling spinnerbaits were the ticket this past weekend.  Jigs have been good too, but not last weekend.

I think it has more to do with location than actual baits, although I have a preference for traps and lipped cranks this time of year.  If you can healthy weeds on good structure then you've got a good start.  Despite a killing frost last week, air temps in the 30s at night, and water temps in the 50s, I've been able to find fish in deep weedbeds, primarily coontail.  I'd much prefer to be fishing a jig in these areas, but its been hot and cold lately, not as consistent as the cranks.  One thing to note, slashbaits, like Pointers and X-Raps have generally been only producing toothy types for me lately.

My most productive baits this fall have been traps and hot-n-tots. LM,SM and even a steelhead on Lake Erie rock walls with the Tot.
