slomoe Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 What a catch, Congrats! That braid is no joke, I've definitely sliced my finger with it. Quote

Super User senile1 Posted April 14, 2008 Super User Posted April 14, 2008 Matt, nice fish!!! You may have just won the state vs state contest. I was thinking it would take at least a 70 percent to win it. You're there, buddy. There's still a month to go but that's a nice hawg. Quote
LakeAnnaBasser Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Nice fish. Are those the carrot stix in the background. Did you catch it on one of em? Quote
mattm Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Awesome fish, congratulations. That is one heck of an east coast fish. Love how excited you look in the picture. Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 Nice fish. Are those the carrot stix in the background. Did you catch it on one of em? Thanx everyone for the congrats! Yes those are two Carrot Stix in the background. I caught this big girl on my Johnny Morris 6'6" MH spinning rod. It's paired with a Shimano Stradic (old white style) with 20lb PowerPro braid. One carrot stick is paired with a Revo SX, and I'm not comfortable throwing 1/4 oz baits on it yet. And the other has a Sol 2500 and was rigged with a shakey head. It was just the way the chips fell I decided to side arm skip the small jig under the birch laydown, and I didn't want to attempt it with the baitcaster...still getting the occasional over-run. Quote
NE_fishr Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Thats a great fish man. Looks like thing are finally starting to happen up here in NE. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Matty, we hopped in there the other day for a quick 2 hour stint. We found your Birch Dirk got a 5.1 off it and I pulled two 3's off it while he dealt with the hook,......that's one helluva Birch tree, lol. Being on that sunny side helps though......can't wait till that newly fallen pine starts holding a few. We need to build a temporary dolly for the boats though, too heavy to carry that far, maybe something we could keep at Erics dads so either of us could grab it when needed. It will come in handy at a few other places too. Bought a 4runner yesterday, going to be looking into lots of other places to fish due to the cost of gas and getting to lake X or Y is gonna be costly. I'll come up with materials and a design, get the welder ready. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Wow man, that's a GREAT northeast fish! That's actually my goal this year, 7.5 or bigger, don't know if it's gonna happen... Congrats Quote
