What a huge success, yet again!!!

A huge THANK YOU to ALL who came out to support our cause, you guys are die hard New Englanders and your dedication to the cause is inspiring.  I word it this way because yesterday was true hell for anyone fishing.  Sideways drizzle with a 25 mph wind in 35 degree air.  FRIGID!!!!!!  I'm talking BONE CHILLING raw.

With this said, the turn-out was mind blowing.  We had 30+ boats show up and launch.  Many were there just to donate as after being on the water for an hour or two, the cozy couch was looking just too friendly on a dreary Sunday morning, lol.

Many pulled early and hit the road looking for a way to start feeling their fingers again, most understandable, lol, but we very much appreciated your support and donations.

Before I go further, I need to make a special thank you for the BR crew.  BassResourcers showed up from surrounding states and as far away as New Jersey,....just to support us, you guys are the cream of the crop in my book.

Alpster, Cigarlover, Stratosdadri, massholemike, D3,bass hole, bassectomy, tin,nathan_James, Matt 5.0, redsox640,bassnajr, etc, you guys are awesome and THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

A THANK YOU to Bill Decoteau and crew from THE BASS BUREAU for participating and traveling from Mass. to come film our event for Cox tv.  As a rep for Marine USA, I'd also like to thank Bill for the coupons he gave out to the winners as well.

Thank You also to the CORE of all we do,....THE BOAT CAPTAINS OF RI!! You guys are the guts of the operation, YOU are our community and YOU make what we do possible.  Without you,....there is no C.A.S.T.

And lastly, the people who make this day possible and the family that has made CAST a household name to RI club anglers,.....The Broggi family.

Delainey, you're the bomb baby!!!!  These kids are lucky to have folks like you in their state, THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS DAY POSSIBLE!!!!!

So, although the weather was tough there WERE some fish caught, a couple big ones too!

The winners were 2 board members, Nathan James and redsox!!!!!!  What's cool is that these guys were TIN RAIDERS!!!!!!  TIN2WIN!!!!  Another cool thing is that Nathan is also a UPS driver with me and UPS is paying for this yrs event again so we can expect some more press for CAST because of this.  EXCELLENT!!  Nathan also has a newborn at home and is a fantastic friend to work side by side with, a real team player, this 1st place prize $$ could not have gone to a better, more deserving pair of guys.

Here are a few pics from the day.

and the biggest winner of all,..... the CAST For Kids Foundation.  Delainey and friends raised another $785 for the 2009 CAST event in RI.  This money will make this event even better than years past.  That's a tough goal to beat!! :)

cfkapr6056.jpg

Delainey, there are no words left kiddo, we love what you do and we are grateful for all your efforts.

THANK YOU EVERYBODY!!!!!

As a sidenote- I added Matt 5.0's name to the thank you's.  Matt could not attend as his little guy was up all night sick and Matty pulled another all nighter with the little dude.  Matt does alot for us throughout the yr. ALWAYS offering his time and assistance so it is only fitting that he get mentioned as I know his heart was there and his body would have been also if it was possible.  I hope Ty is feeling better ;)

It was awsome! Great turn-out and some great guys. Can't wait until next years. Hopefully next year all the BR guys won't have to make the best out of the nasty weather... ;D (You guys know what I mean).

And Alpster, it was great to fish with you, we will have some fun next time you come up and the weather is warmer.

Great job everyone! 8-)

We got to get Dee signed up on the board.

Good job on the report lbh.  This is what it is all about and yes it was nasty out there brought the little man and cousins down with bassinajr to see the event and help if needed.  He could have stayed out all day but me The daddy I was the wimp.  Once again thanks for all you guys do for the community and the kids.  These are the good old days and without the kids there is no future at all.

D3- this summer, we hook up ;)

When does the brace come off?  Does it matter? (fishing-wise)(no bumpy boat rides here, elec only)

PS- Tell Alan I have the rod Alpster brought for him but I'm gonna fish it for a week or 2.  If he "needs" it, just gimme a ring.  Thanks bud :)

Tin- I think she already is, but we need to teach her to type ;)

Crappy weather but GREAT event. It's all for such a great cause it's hard to really complain about the weather. Thanks to you guys for putting it on each year, Delainey, Russ, Mike. I was just happy to be able to be a part of it.

Kudos to Natan and Pete for being able to catch 4 fish in such brutal conditions. Congrats guys.

Another cool point was that while the "no-goers" were on shore, we decided to pack the bass bus and hit Little Italy, "Federal Hill" in Providence.  There's a sight, a camper downtown with a batch of anglers piling out and into the local eatery, lol.  Angelo's will never be the same.

As Muddy would say,....Atsa Nice ;D

even though i froze my skinny little @ss off, i still had a great time and am glad i got to be a part of yesterday. congrats to the tourney winners, but especially to CAST for Kids and all those involved.

i had the pleasure of sharing a boat with Cigarlover and even though we didn't get a bite all day we still had fun (we'll nail the smallies at the quabbin craig, don't you worry!). on top of that i got to meet a bunch more BassResource.com members... Tin, Bassectomy, bassnajr, stratosdaari, and i'm sure there were others.

ronnie it was great to see you again. a truly genuine person, he drove 4 hours each way to participate yesterday. that right there says a helluvalot about the guy. can't wait until next time!

LBH, if i can help out in any other way with CAST for Kids, lemme know, i'd love to lend a hand. and thanks for letting me and craig use your boat!

oh yeah, russ, i think providence might be short a few thousand pounds after ronnie left. the back of the bass bus looked like it was sitting awfully low, and there was a strange orange glow coming from the windows as he drove off.

ronnie, care to explain? ;)

Great report LBH! It was amazing to see how far across state lines the charity and support reached.  :) Honored to be a part of it.

It was great to meet you Paul, glad to see the local authorities didn't find you before you left  ;) ;D

We'll have to lift a few this summer.

Thanks for your support :)

Just realized something. In one of the pics Bassectomy looks like he is doing the "I gots to go potty dance".

Sounds like a day to remember, Russ. Sorry Sunday was out for me. I went out for the first time here on Saturday for a couple of hours and had a miserable time: broke a rod tip and caught nothing. I can't even say it was for a good cause!

Congrats to all who turned out.

I would just like to say thank you to the Broggi's for setting up such a successful event for CAST two years running. I had a great time last year, and an even better time this year.

Russ, thanks for the kind words and for taking point with CAST here in RI.  With your dedication and enthusiasm I see CAST growing bigger and better with each year. Great job.

                                    What a day!
