ventureboat Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I'm from Central Illinois. The weather was emaculate yesterday (a little windy, but you'll have that). The problem is, it was my 1 year anniversary with my beautiful wife!!! I was a little in the dumps. Watching my normal fishing shows in the a.m., she woke up and said "I can't believe you're still here! After explaining I didn't want to leave her on our first anniversary, she ENCOURAGED me to take advantage and get out on the water. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones!! (I did do the dozen roses, dinner, and comedy club the night before), so I'm not a total jerk!!! Thanks Leslie!!! Quote
Rayraff Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 My dad had to "sneak" out of the house to go fishing. You are a lucky man. I'm from northwest chicago so I had the warm weekend as well, How was the fishing? Quote
ventureboat Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 Fishin was fair. Lake was crowded. I caught seven bass. 3 were over 2 lbs, the rest were smaller, but what a day!!! Quote
PeterB Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 u have open water in C IL? wow, even with that great weather here in iowa we are still in so much snow and ice i couldnt even fathom getting on the water. congrats though. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 4, 2008 Super User Posted March 4, 2008 My wife knows I keep a duffle bag packed at all times & she knows when it's time for me to go; so she just asks how long? Quote
ventureboat Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 We do have some open water. I'm still fishing the power plant lakes. I can only use my trolling motor because of the 25 hp limit, but it keeps me fishin all winter!!!! Thats great catt, I love the understanding wives!!!! Quote

Off topic but where are you fishing at and where in central Illinois are you from. I am also from central Illinois. Quote
Popeye Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 First of all CONGRATULATIONS on your one year anniversary! Your wife obviously understands your passion for fishing. With that kind of compatibility you are one lucky fellow. Come to think about it, I'd say most of the wives of the BR guys understand and support our passion. They might not like the $$$s we spend on it, but they at least tolerate it to some degree:o) It also appears you had one NICE day out there on the lake! Quote

Don't worry my friend, a few more anniversaries will go by before she starts complaining about you going out fishing...It always seems like women (no offense to anyone) seem to allow things easily at first but then tighten up when the man goes fishing more and more, and the wife wants him to be with her. But yes congrats on your first anniversary!!! Quote
HesterIsGod Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Hope some day I am lucky enough to get a woman like that. Quote
ventureboat Posted March 5, 2008 Author Posted March 5, 2008 Hey guys, was away for a while. Thanks for all the congrats and kind words. She is an amazing gal. Hey IL_BASS, I'm from a little town called White Hall in Central Illinois. I've been fishing Sangchris and Coffeen this winter. Mostly quantity at Sangchris, quality at Coffeen Quote
ventureboat Posted March 5, 2008 Author Posted March 5, 2008 By the way Horse, she doesn't clean fish....yet. I think she's willing to learn ;D Quote
The Bass Guy Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 yes yes.. Congrats on your anniversary.. And even more congratulations on your wife's understnading the important things in life... LMAO... No seriously... now you just have to get her into fishing seriously.. Then you can do tourneys together... Congrats on your going out and congrats on catching fish... Quote
jrhennecke Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Congratulations. You have a good one for sure. Quote
Gummybear Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Congrats!!! And you had a better day than I. I hit the banks and only caught one 12"er. I caught it on a bright blue(top) and neon green(bottom) husky jerk bait. And that was on a slow constant retrieve by the east docks of san chris. I live in the Springfield area and hit san chris and Springfield Lakes the most. Quote
ventureboat Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 Hey gummybear, how's the fishin on lake Springfield these days? It's been 4-5 years since I've been there. Only fished it once, but I won the tournament. Now I live a little closer, and wouldn't mind getting out there. Any tips for this time of year???? Quote
farmpond1 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 You'd better hang on to her!!! Happy anniversary, too! Quote
dumb_dog11 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Next year, take her out i the boat with you Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 11, 2008 Super User Posted March 11, 2008 Really? She let you go fishing on your first anniversary? I would never think of doing that as the weekend would belong to her. I guess my wife and I did other things on our first anniversary, a number of times, which were more fun then going fishing. But to each their own. Quote
fishizzle Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Does she have a sister? Thats great--Happy Anniv. My wife lets me go sometimes unless she's bored then I can't go That seems to be the guideline But I can't complain, I'm a stay at home Daddy Quote
Gummybear Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Sorry for the slooooowwww reply ventureboat. The fishing is not to bad at springfield lake. Now san chris is very pressured at the moment though. I plan on fishing springfield more this summer. Quote
