Dean Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I managed to get out fishing today for the first time in the year 2008. Behind my house is Robinson State Park, and there is a small pond within its boundries. The pond has some trout and lots of carp. It's kinda unfortunate that theres no bass, but I don' think they would survive the dense algae of the pond anyway. Anyways, I caught my first fish of 2008, and it ain't a bass. : Carp I caught View of the pond Quote
XcoM274 Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 LOL. I caught one of those slugs on an X-rap last year in a pond alot like that one. They are LAME fighters. Quote

Super User T-rig Posted March 25, 2008 Super User Posted March 25, 2008 definitely looks like a goldfish to me I agree, it is a goldfish. Quote
XcoM274 Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Oh I know for a fact that it is. The pond I fished last year that had them, the lady told me exactly what she released there. It was like Koi and some other stupid tropical type fish. Surprised they actually live under the ice. Quote
Bassnbrett101 Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 i have a goldfish pond in my back yard and all of look exactly like that, except there are a few bluegill, chubs, and small bass and the goldfish are alot smaller. Thats a big feeder fish you can buy for 10 cents a piece when they're small lol. Quote
Dean Posted March 25, 2008 Author Posted March 25, 2008 Ok now i'm puzzled as to why there are goldfish in a wild pond in the middle of the woods :-/ Quote
BassinBoy Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Yeah um nice but i do believe this is a bass fishing website. Show some pics of the black bass. Quote
Dean Posted March 26, 2008 Author Posted March 26, 2008 Yeah um nice but i do believe this is a bass fishing website. Show some pics of the black bass. Thank you for letting me know as if I already didn't : But seriously, I am a bass fisherman, and I just went down to the pond nearby to wet a line and kill some time . I think I will end here before this turns into a rant. Quote
pondhopper Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I believe carp are in the goldfish family or are very closely related. Quote
Bassnbrett101 Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I believe carp are in the goldfish family or are very closely related. they are, lol thats why they look so much alike. i read something somewhere that goldfish are actually just a domesticated carp. its like the dog breed thing since they lived in china the chinese kinda breed them to look nice, but they're a carp at heart. And goldfish are in a pond in the middle of the woods because someone put them there lol : ;D (if i knew how to do the laughing one it would be here too lol) Quote
