Super User Long Mike Posted March 3, 2008 Super User Posted March 3, 2008 Just wanted to rub it in a little for you folks what live in ice land. I live in Tulsa. The lakes are ice free, but still in the mid-forties. So ... On Thursday, March, 6 I will be towing my boat to Caney Creek Reservoir in Louisiana to fish with my cajun friends. It's one of the four lunker lakes in Louisiana and is a slot lake. I will be retuning on Tuesday, March 11. On Thursday, March 13, I depart for Lake Fork to fish my first tournament with a my fishing buddy. Returning on Sunday the 16th. On Friday, March 22, I will be towing my boat to Lake Guntersville to fish with all of the Bass Resource folks. Returning on Saturday the 29th. If I do not catch at least one 10lb bass on any of these trophy lakes I will hang my head in shame and come crawling back to this board to ask for your understanding and forgiveness. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted March 3, 2008 Super User Posted March 3, 2008 I wish I were in your shoes and getting ready to do all that fishing. Good luck and I'll see ya' at Guntersville. 8-) Quote

Mike, I'll understand and forgive you for setting expectations too high! That's pressure you don't want or need. Just remember this... no matter how good a lake is, there are always WAY more people without a 10 pounder than with a 10 pounder on said lake. I hope you get your 10... and I hope it comes on day one- so you can relax and enjoy the rest of your trips. But if it doesn't, I hope you still have safe travels and loads of fun! Quote

Cigarlover 1 Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Lucky dawg. That's one heck of a month of fishing. Great way to start the season. Good luck on the 10. More importantly good luck catching a limit in your first tourney. Quote

Hey Mike, I don't mean to be a smart @$$ here or anything, but I think you have a spelling error in your post ;D I highlighted it for you.... It should be THAT instead of WHAT. I just figured I'd let you know... Have fun and I can't wait to see what you catch! I hope you get that 10 pounder! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 5, 2008 Super User Posted March 5, 2008 I think that is considered a "typo" rather than a spelling error. : Quote
Guest muddy Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Good Luck and safe trip Mike, call ya tonight 8-) Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted March 6, 2008 Author Super User Posted March 6, 2008 John J, it was neither a typo nor a spelling error. It was an intentional misuse of the language. If I had wanted to use the proper diction I would have typed "you folks WHO live in ice land." To all others who have expressed their good wishes, many thanks. I'm hoping for a ten pound-er, but anything over my PB of four would be great. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 6, 2008 Super User Posted March 6, 2008 Good lucky, buddy! Hope you catch a bigun'. I look forward to toasting a glass with you at Guntersville. -Kent 8-) Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted March 6, 2008 Author Super User Posted March 6, 2008 Bighead, I don't know the name of the tournament. It is a "one day only, biggest bass" tournament that is launching out of Lake Fork Marina on Saturday the 15th. I'm the back-seater. Quote
bighed Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 That would be the bullet owners open. I expect to be there myself. I'll be in my black & red stroker with my son so if you see us please say hello. Bert Quote
mynameis....andimabassaholic Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 i live in chicago, and i was able to fish most of december, 2 weekends in january, and 2 in february, thanks to a river that has warm water discharges, and a truck to plow the ramp for us Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted March 12, 2008 Author Super User Posted March 12, 2008 Well, the first trip of the month went just OK. Dismal weather the first day. Blinding snow and fog on the water. Oddly enough, that was our best day. Our foursome caught two above five pounds, one at four and a half, one at four, and one at three. I caught the four and a halfer. The next two days produced nice weather , but only a couple of dinks. Well, Thursday morning I'm off on my next trip. Lake Fork, TX. Still on a quest for my ten pounder. Hope springs eternal. Quote
