Super User .dsaavedra. Posted March 16, 2008 Super User Posted March 16, 2008 ok, i have been fishing (and skunked) 4 times already this year, but today ended the streak. i caught some bass. in january at BPS my dad and i split the cost of a fishfiner for the jon boat. we spend yesterday setting it up, and today was our first time out using it. today, it was low to mid 40's, and the wind was strong, 20mph, so it was very uncomfortable and cold and we were blowing all over the place, our anchor wasnt holding in the wind. the fish finder was awesome though because we were able to eliminate some unproductive water that we normally would have wasted our time on. well the deepest part (10ft.) was where all the fish were. i casted out my brand new subwalk on my brand new crankbait combo that i got for christmas. three casts later...FISH ON!!!! it felt like a really good one, and after a small, lethargic fight, i could see its outline a few inches under the water and then it rose to the top and made a mighty head shake, mouth gaping wide. i eased it to the boat and lipped this bad boy: 20", 4lbs on the nose, largemouth bass!!!! i was so happy. this was my first time catching a fish since november. this fish is also in my avatar. so then i changed from the subwalk to a silver DT-06, and i caught 3 more bass over a few hours. none of any size, but still great to have on the other end of my line: my dad also caught two fish today. he caught one trolling and another on a steady retrieve. both on a red craw rat-l-trap. (he always blinks in the photos : ;D) so all in all it was an amazing day!!!! it felt so good to be back to catching fish! enjoy! tight lines Quote
Davis Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Nice! Nothing like a 20 incher to start off the year. Hopefully by mid April I will have my first one as well. Waters still iced up! Quote
Cory20 Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Nice work dave! I had to deal with the same conditions, 45 and 20+ mph winds!! Didn't catch a thing. Remember to let out extra scope for your anchor in windy conditions! Quote
