DangerRanger Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 It cost me at least a c note (100) everytime when you figure everything in that is even if I split the cost with someone else. You figure the gas to and from the lake, the gas and oil on the water, the food and drink you take, launching fees and or yearly pass, fishing lic., insurance on boat, etc. it adds up a lot quicker than what people think. Here is a good idea that I have been doing with my fishing buddies here lately is I have a full tank of gas truck and boat when we head to the lake. When we get back I stop at the gas station and fill everything back up then have them give me half the money. If I can supply the truck and boat they can afford half if not more. Does anyone else have any thoughts on how to recoup some of the cost from fishing partners/buddies? With gas prices the way they are I need all the help I can get.......... > Quote
Bassnbrett101 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 i try not to fish unless its where my next tournament is, when i win the tournament i get my gas back ;D 8-). lol I'm j.k but i do try to get some gas money back in tournys when i can Quote
kiss my bass Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Too much!!!! I live 14 miles from my home lake and it still costs to much! Gas is out of control! @3.59 is what I paid for it yesterday..... :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( Sux!!! Kiss my Bass Quote
dumb_dog11 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 i pay about sixty bucks just for a rental boat plus the gas to get to the lake which is usually about an hour long drive not to mention my addiction for fishing gear. ;D Quote
Land Surveyor13 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Alright I think I have everyone beat. This is for a tournament on Lake Eufaula/Walter F. George this past weekend. Truck Diesel: 32 gallons @ $3.75 per gallon = $112.50 Boat Gas: 15 gallons @ $3.25 per gallon = $48.75 Tournament Fee: = $50.00 Breakfast, Lunch, Drinks & Snacks = $25.00 Boat Launch & Parking Fee: = $3.00 Total for Tournament Day = $239.25 On a normal fishing day you can cut the diesel in half, Boat gas in half and no Tournament Fee = $108.62 give or take a few dollars. The only silver lining is I purchased both the boat and truck through my company so I can use them as a write off on taxes and the fuel too. We had 80 boats this past tournament and we had 120 at the tournament before this one. I wonder if the rise in gas prices play's a part in why we had 40 less boats on Sunday. Jerrod Quote
Yakfish Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Paddle power baby. Packing a lunch and filling a thermos at home leaves just the gas there and back. Maybe $6 bucks for a 50 mile round trip. Quote
alger319 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 this is for when i go to Kentucky for my Lake Cumberland tourny Tournament cost: $150 Truck gas: $ 400(round trip) Boat gas: $200(6 days) Lodging: $150(per person-6 days) Food : $100 And i'm sure the expenses will execed $1000 due to unexpected stuff too... Super User Alpster Posted March 12, 2008 Super User Posted March 12, 2008 My home lake is within walking distance if it weren't for the boat. I pay a $40 yearly fee for a launching sticker. Lake is electric only and I burn almost no gas to get there. Food is the biggest expense. I am glad I don't have to think about cost to fish. I spend a few $ on snacks/drinks. Ronnie Quote
fishizzle Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I'm sure glad eastern CT doesn't have any big lakes for those gas guzzlers and the state is small which helps for the gas guzzling V-8s too My fun trips cost me $1 in electricity to charge my batts for my trolling motor only lakes and $25 in lures lost to pickerel My tourneys cost me $10 in gas and $40 total for my entry fee and the boater For 3rd place I win $30 so its lose-lose Quote
FR0G Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Well, since I got a season pass to all the regional parks here in Cali, I just gotta pay the cost of gas, which my parents pay for, so really, I only pay for any tackle if I need any. So pretty much its free for me. I love my life ;D Quote
llPa1nll Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Well yet again I count my lucky stars gas has risen here, to approx $3.10/gal. My home lake is just down the street and when I mean just down the street I can see it out my window(not water front but water view). Its a small +200 acre lake that has no public access and is loaded with fish. I see myself fishing this allot more this year than years past, just to save on gas. Quote
Nitro 882 Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Gas prices dont bother me too much. Just have to budget around it. Cutting down on stuff that isnt a necessity is a great way to fit the gas bill in the budget Like food, clothes, shelter etc Quote
