TREE BASS Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 WHAT KIND OF SWIVELS AND SIZE WOULD YOU USE TO BASS FISH. 1} PLASTIC CRAWDAD 2} TOPWATER.HOW DO YOU USE A SWIVEL ON A SPINNER BAIT OR DO YOU JUST TIE IT ON. KINDA LOST... Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 24, 2008 Super User Posted October 24, 2008 I use Duo-lock snaps for cranks, topwaters, and hard jerkbaits - no swivel. Just about everything else, I tie direct. About the only time I use a swivel, is with a spoon, casting or jigging. The difference is, that I use a split ring to attach the swivel to the spoon, and no snap - tie direct to the swivel itself. I've had good luck with Eagle Claw Lazer series snaps and Spro swivels. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted October 24, 2008 Super User Posted October 24, 2008 No swivels , snaps maybe. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 swivels are for live bait or chunk bait in current and trolling Quote
Super User Sam Posted October 24, 2008 Super User Posted October 24, 2008 Plastic Crawfish - None. Use Palamor Knot. Topwaters - Depends on what you are throwing. I use snaps on some and tie direct to baits with Palamor Knot for others. Best Swivel to Use? - Barrel Swivels Just my two-cents. Quote
moby bass Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 About the only time I use a swivel is with an inline spinner. Palomar knot as stated above Quote
tyrius. Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I never use snap swivels. I do use snaps for many hardbaits and barrel swivels for in line spinners (tied a foot or so up from the lure). Barrel swivels are also used when required for things such as c-rigs, although I want to look into some of the other options for stopping the sinker/bead on c-rigs. Every knot that I tie (except for tieing two ends of line together) is the palomar. Quote
