ba7ss3in Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 A buddy and I caught these on Saturday. The one I'm holding is a little over 2lbs and we didn't weigh the flounder. There are some big flounder in this lake as well as some big bass. The bass was caught on a 6" Lake Fork magic shad and the flounder was caught on a green pumpkin Tiki stick. We had a good day but didn't catch many fish giving the situation. Quote
crazy4bass1 Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 nice bass man what did you catch the flounder on? Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted March 4, 2008 Super User Posted March 4, 2008 nice bass man what did you catch the flounder on? It's in his post.... Quote
Daniel My Brother Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Cool flounder. I didn't know you could catch them in the same waters as bass (or that they'd eat a tiki stick). Not too many exotic fish here in the midwest. Quote
FivePoundBluegill Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I HAVE BEEN OUTDONE!.....IN THE AREA OF CATCHING STRANGE FISH!!!! This is indeed a dark day...... Quote
Super User T-rig Posted March 4, 2008 Super User Posted March 4, 2008 Cool man! Are those freshwater flounder? Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Cool man! Are those freshwater flounder? Never heard of such a thing!!!! Cool! Are they good to eat? I'm jealous...... Quote
ba7ss3in Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 This lake use to be part of the river and was dammed by the power plant. Being on the coast, the flounder used these waters and were trapped. People catch flounder in this lake on everything from a jig to a spinnerbait. Quote
slomoe Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Nice post, Great pics. Sounds like alot of fun. I remember you talking about how the flounder got trapped in another thread. Do they spawn there? Or are you guys just catching whats left? Quote

Super User .dsaavedra. Posted March 4, 2008 Super User Posted March 4, 2008 hey sounds like you had a great day. on a side note, about how many fish per bait do you get out of those lake fork magic shads? (<----anyone can answer that) they dont seem durable :-/ Quote
wcasey911 Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 That has to be Sutton Lake. How are the water levels there now? I know it's fairly shallow to begin with, but with the drought we've been in I was wondering how the fishing is there. Quote
Dean Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Wow freshwater flounder. Guess ya do learn something new everyday :-? Quote
LCpointerKILLA Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I'll bet that there is still a good amount of salinity in that water. That's pretty cool that the dam made a fishery like that. Quote
LCpointerKILLA Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Ah hah! http://www.northcarolinasportsman.com/details.php?id=85 This explains it Quote
