osmy22 Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 I need a Clever idea for the repair of my tackle bag. The plastic fixture that holds the shoulder strap to the tackle bag cracked off. Now I have loose strap that needs fastening. Help! > Quote
BASS fisherman Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 The same thing happened to me on the first tackle bag I ever had. Not the best looking bag on the lake, but it works. I took some line and just wrapped it around the two pieces that hold it together. If that doesnt make sense, it is just replacing the plastic fixture with fishing line. It is actually stronger than the plastic fixture that was originally holding the strap to the bag. Quote
osmy22 Posted January 29, 2007 Author Posted January 29, 2007 Thanks for giving it some thought. It is actually my second Pfleuger Supreme 370. They are pretty durable for the most part. I have no complaints. I think heavy gauge tie wrap may work also, huh? Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 29, 2007 Super User Posted January 29, 2007 I always keep some of my old power pro braided line to fix things like this. I just sew it up and it never gives me another problem. Quote
Super User Marty Posted January 30, 2007 Super User Posted January 30, 2007 I'm not sure exactly what broke, but in the past I've done repairs and/or lengthened the strap with large split rings, like 2" diameter, and these gizmos, both widely available in hardware stores. Quote
the ohh face Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Like marty said, I usually replace any plastic pieces with large split rings and those clips. Any hardware store should have a bunch of different parts that with a little imagination you can make work to your liking Quote
osmy22 Posted January 30, 2007 Author Posted January 30, 2007 I think the tie wrap is the way to go with my bag. I will probably use some flex cuffs. A large split ring may also do the trick. You see my bag never had those clips. THe ends on both the strap and bag are stitched closed. thanks Quote
