Ok I'm going to get into the swim bait craze, with a Castaic Snap On Tail Real Bait, 6" floating model. 12.00 bucks, golden shiner color. 2oz.

I'm getting the floating model, so I can also reel it 'cross the top, and second it as a wake bait. It's got a soft body, and a hared heard so it will nice and real to the bass.

I have a few questions about it:

It's got one trouble hook about 5" up the head. Will the bass be able to get it good in their mouths so I can hook 'em?

I only have one combo and I want to know if it will work.

Shimano Shimano Curado 200 (not 100, sorry about that) E Casting Reel, with a 6'6" MH rod, with 50lb braid. Keep in mind that this is the only combo I have. Should I put a 20lb leader on it? If not what lb test?

What are you going to do, grab the bait with the hand and throw it out into the water ? your rod can 't handle properly a 2 oz bait.

Would it be possible to snap the tip off of the rod with a bait twice heavier than the rod will take??  If so, he might not know that.

That 's what could happen.

I'd think you'd run the risk of breaking the rod at any point along the blank.  You need a heavier rated rod.

You need 2 things.

1. A much heavier combo

2.  To start realizing that the reason your posts are disappearing is because I'm going to start deleting the ones you won't spell check.  No more PM's or warnings.  I've had it.

What words are under lined red, other than Curado, and 'em?

I think you guy under estimate the power of a MH 6'6" rod, I've caught snooks on 1 1/2 once jigs.

I can try to make a video of me casting a 2oz sinker on that rod.

Once again, I'll try!

I only have one combo and I want to know if it will work.

Look, if you come on here and ask a question then turn around and totally disregard the advice, people are going to quit answering your questions. If you already know so much, stop asking for input from EXPERIENCED members.

You said you were going to change your ways and start acting differently? The only thing different is the fact that it doesnt say "Snapper G" in front of your posts.

You were given two ears and only one mouth for a reason. Listen twice as much as you talk and you just might learn something.

OUT.

Yes, you can probably cast that lure BUT one wrong move and that rod is going to snap and you're not going to get the distance out of it like you would with a rod that IS rated for that lure weight. A few years back I started musky fishing again. The only rod I had at that time was a flippin stick. The BEST cast I could make with it was somewhere around 25-30yards (this was a 2 1/2oz bait). Now, PROPERLY equipped, I can cast that same bait on average of 45 yards. Do yourself a favor and get the right tool for the job!

What do teachers that depend on computers to teach and $40 swimbait rods have in common?

Neither one is the right tool for the job.

Hu?

Well nothing, but, that's just what I do on my spare time!
