Yeah guys it was a very tough fight. Took about 10 minutes to land the fish. I only hooked into him about 15 feet out but I just could not get him to the shore. Every time I got him close he would shoot out to about 25 feet away from shore again.  He kept swimming from side to side slowly pulling a lot of drag. He did not make any long straight runs out to the middle of the lake though. I basically just let this fish run around and get tired. Did not want to force him in and end up with a broken line. I was only using 8 LB test. He got tired after about 10 minutes and I was able to net him on my first netting attempt.

Yes it is. It was 84lbs. 12oz. Have look at this huge carp from Thailand.

(Thailand is alot warmer then California :))

That looks like a siamese carp. Those are only native to Asia arnt they?

Nice carp there  :)

IMO the carp's fighting ability is under-appreciated in the States.  They really are strong fish.  I just wish you could catch them on artificials.
