Infidel. Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 What a fight that must have been. Way to go! Quote
FivePoundBluegill Posted February 7, 2008 Author Posted February 7, 2008 Yeah guys it was a very tough fight. Took about 10 minutes to land the fish. I only hooked into him about 15 feet out but I just could not get him to the shore. Every time I got him close he would shoot out to about 25 feet away from shore again. He kept swimming from side to side slowly pulling a lot of drag. He did not make any long straight runs out to the middle of the lake though. I basically just let this fish run around and get tired. Did not want to force him in and end up with a broken line. I was only using 8 LB test. He got tired after about 10 minutes and I was able to net him on my first netting attempt. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted February 7, 2008 Super User Posted February 7, 2008 Well done, congrats! 8-) I hope you'll catch one like this soon! Quote
FivePoundBluegill Posted February 7, 2008 Author Posted February 7, 2008 Well done, congrats! 8-) I hope you'll catch one like this soon! I honestly doubt they get that big in California. Carp are a cold water fish and the water is warm here. Not best growing conditions for carp... Quote

HesterIsGod Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Way to go five pound! That other carp jeez. How does that guy even hold that thing! Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Nice carp there IMO the carp's fighting ability is under-appreciated in the States. They really are strong fish. I just wish you could catch them on artificials. Quote
