garry77 Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Today my son and I hit the lake.WE caught our first of '08.Also it was the first I ever caught on a rattle trap. Some of you who read the great lure for some thread I had a few weeks ago will note the trap was the bane of my fishing existence. But I tried something different today and it worked. At least once.,lol. Guest avid Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Share the wealth dude, just what was that "something different" you tried today? Quote
garry77 Posted January 28, 2008 Author Posted January 28, 2008 well avid it was actually an article on here that pointed me in the right direction.I thought I had tried everything with the trap and was about to give up(cast and crank.jerk it,yo-yo,etc,).But yesterday I'd cast it then reel up the slack and jerk pulling my rod to tip to the right. Then i'd reel up all the slack from that jerk and pull it to the left and repeat. I tried it in the shallow water where i could see it and it makes the bait kinda roll to one side or the other. It worked at least once, lol. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted February 1, 2008 Super User Posted February 1, 2008 You can send me all your traps when you give up on them. Quote

Oh yeah, I invented that technique....It's called Avid's famous roll the rat. Some people bought it thinking it was a rodent exterminator. that's when I changed the name of my company to Avid's famous fishing and rat killers. Quote
garry77 Posted February 2, 2008 Author Posted February 2, 2008 Sorry avid I hope I didn't infringe an a patent of yours,lol. ;D Quote
