FivePoundBluegill Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Well not exacly a "HAWG" lol. This bass is however the smallest bass I have caught in my life. The water in the lake I was fishing was pretty murky but i could still see a lot of tiny inch long fish fry swimming close to the shore in a small cove of the lake. I decided to tie on the smallest lure I had that was about the same size of the fish fry. I think these fry were bluegills since I noticed that for some reason in this lake the bluegill spawned again at the end of summer. Anyone ever seen this before? I think these tiny fish were young bluegills. I was hopeing there would be bass in the area feeding on these small fry. There were bass all right. I caught three in about 10 minutes. However the biggest one was only about 11 inches long. This was the smallest one. I ended up abandoning fishing this area with the tiny rapalla and tied on a rattletrap and started walking around the lake throwing it. I was able to catch a couple decent fish with the rattletrap. thetr20one Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I don't mean to brag but Ihave caught one the same length as the Lucky Craft Live Pointer 80 I was throwing! Under 4 inches it had the whole rear treble in his mouth. Quote
Mrs. Matstone Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Right about now I bet there is quite a few of us that would take that. Winter is really starting to get old :'( I agree with that statement 100% This is the smallest one that I have a pic of. My daughter caught it on a day early last summer when the weather was great. We skipped school and went fishing. ;D Sorry the pic is a little fuzzy. Quote
