Tokyo Tony Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Well I got this little guy two weeks ago, first bass of 2008, from a little 1.5 acre pond that the Canadian geese have worked hard to keep thawed this winter. I drove by one night and noticed it was open so the next night I threw a little jig for a while Got this brown a week ago fishing my favorite trout hole in the morning. Tricked him on a Blue Fox inline spinner. A chunky 1 1/4 lber on a Pointer 65 Hopefully sooner than later I'll be able to post some more bass pictures... Quote
Under the Radar Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Way to go TT. BTW what is that white crystalline looking background in pic #2 ? Brrrr. Nice looking trout. makes me long for the Blueridge Mts of N. GA. Been down here in FL toooo long. when the temp goes below 50* my trigger finger won't trig & my thumb goes numb. Again Congrats on the fish. Quote
FivePoundBluegill Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Nice colors on that second trout Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 Thanks guys. That trout hole is amazing - it's on the inside edge of a large bend in the river, and it's shallow on the inside, deeper on the outside, and crystal clear. When I go there in the morning, the sunlight is just right so that I always see the fish following my lure, and then finally striking it. It's pretty fun to watch If only there were smallies in there : Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 23, 2008 Super User Posted January 23, 2008 I think you might be the first New Englander on the board to catch a bass in 2008. Quote
X-Rap Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Thats upper fish looks like a native. is it? Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted January 24, 2008 Author Posted January 24, 2008 Thats upper fish looks like a native. is it? I don't think so - I doubt it. How would you tell the difference? I think you might be the first New Englander on the board to catch a bass in 2008. Maybe, unless there are ice fishermen on board here... Quote
JUST Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Nice looking trout and pond. Way to go man. Quote
X-Rap Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Thats upper fish looks like a native. is it? I don't think so - I doubt it. How would you tell the difference? They usually have different coloration. They have more distinct spots. They are also more muscular than hatchery fish. If you look at their front fins they are generally much longer. Here's a pic of a nice native brownie i caught this year out a tiny steam in Northern PA. Quote
