Guest avid Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Man it was gorgeous day today. It started off with a thick fog and forecasts for thunderstorms, but the fog burned off and it cool and comfortable. We brought 15 to the boat using standard stick marsh baits, mostly ratLtraps, and swim senko's. Avid caught a few decent ones like this bad boy. but SteveP had high hook and big fish honors. check out the belly on this big girl. Just over 7 1/2 lbs. and full of roe. And again So, as usual it was a great day. We have so many laughs it seems that the bass are just a bonus. If you weren't there. You shoulda been. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted January 13, 2008 Super User Posted January 13, 2008 :o That second pic. Could have passed for bigger if you ask me Quote
Guest avid Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 :o That second pic. Could have passed for bigger if you ask me glad you mentioned that. both SteveP and Avid use certified boga grip scales to weigh our fish. The weights we quote are "take it to the bank" weights, even though they often look bigger and we could lie and get away with it. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted January 13, 2008 Super User Posted January 13, 2008 Just an observation .... It seems as Florida bass (never caught one, just going by pictures) seem to look bigger than a Northern of the same weight. And the real big girls always look really long (like your avatar). Just seems like you can always tell a Florida bass (actually caught in Florida) from any others around the country. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted January 13, 2008 Super User Posted January 13, 2008 You guys are killing me. I waited all week to get out there but, my partner canceled on me last night. I found a last minute replacement. I was up at 0415 making sandwiches when my replacement called saying the nyquil he took kicked his butt and can't get up. I called my brother to tell him it was just the two of us, to hurry up and get over to my house. My brother said he just checked his answering machine and has a chance to work some overtime so he ain't coming. So that left just me and I didn't want to drive 2 hours by myself and then fish all day alone. Needless to say I spent most of my day infront of the T.V pouting and a bit grumpy. I'm glad you had a good outing and those are some nice hawgs. Quote
Terry_ Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Great looking fish! I enjoy every post I read about Stick Marsh, keep'em coming. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted January 14, 2008 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted January 14, 2008 Nice fish guys! Quote
Jake. Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Nice fish! That second one is a real fatty. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted January 14, 2008 Super User Posted January 14, 2008 Nice work fellows I'm amazed that the weather was so different in Fellsmere today. I was going to sneak over to Crooked Lake today, but it was VERY windy in Lake Wales with on-and-off showers. All the same, I'm glad to see that you boys saved the day. Roger Quote
maxke01 Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 can always count on some good post coming from Avid...and the fish that tags along with them are the bonus for us on the forum Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted January 14, 2008 Super User Posted January 14, 2008 To Avid and SteveP. I was going to throw you guys a zinger, but since you guys have been so kind to me lately, I can't bring myself to do it. On a side note I would like to know which version of PhotoShop you are using to "Enhance" the quality and size of the fish in your photos. Also, just as a suggestion, if you guys would hold the fish a little higher, so we couldn't see your faces, the quality of the photos would be greatly improved. Quote
FivePoundBluegill Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Im guessing steve P was the one to take the pics... Quote
Guest Steve_P. Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Uhhhhhh..........Mr Avid? You need to write the specifics on your hand before you leave the ramp, you big Poopiehaid. We had 17 fish, not 15. : ;D Long Mike, with all due respect..............BITE ME!!!! :-* ;D KU Bassmaster, notice how small the mouth is in comparison to the body. Based on the mouth/head size, this fish should have weighed about 5 pounds, not 7 1/2. The pic doesn't really show just how fat this fish really was. 25 pound Bluegill, you are WRONG!!! WE don't take any of the pics. I stop in Fellsmere and pic up an illegal Mexican to come along with us. He dives after snagged lures, fetches us drinks and snacks, deploys and stows the trolling motor, wipes down the Basscat after the trip, AAAANNNNDDDD takes our pics for us. As an added bonus, he does it for 40 cents an hour!! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 18, 2008 Super User Posted January 18, 2008 Great pics, nice fish! 8-) Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 18, 2008 Super User Posted January 18, 2008 Keep those pics coming for us guys up north so we can dream about warmer weather. SteveP, great sense of humor. Love it. Avid, you almost smiled. I guess that is why it is snowing in Richmond. Envious? You are darn right I am envious. So you all catch them for us and keep those pics coming. Quote
