Matt- I want to take just a second to fill you in on a couple things that you need to know now that you have found out how to be successful with that rod and reel you have.

Here, in the states, Bass have to be of a certain size to be legal to remove from the lake/pond.  We all understand that you wanted a pic of your first Bass and you'll be glad you have it 20 yrs from now, trust me, but before you go and turn into a pro, you need to learn your local laws regarding the harvest of Bass and the size limits.  The usual minimum size ranges from 12-16".

Also, read up a little about "catch and release".  Educating yourself on these topics will help you understand the water you fish and will help you from doing anything detrimental without knowing.

You did a great job buddy, keep it up!!

Just remember that bass are a alien species in our country ;), im not argueing but im just saying.

Matthys, bass are also a alien species in switzerland and many other countries. I still release all of the bass I catch. Think about the future.

Congrats on your first bass! 8-)

I know.I also caught another bass and released it.I didn't weigh it, I don't know how to weigh a fish, and I love animals. So where can i get good info on Catch and Release.

Howdy young feller.

There is alot of information on catch and release in a variety of places.

I suggest you subscribe to one of the recognized bass magazines.  bassmaster is a typical place to start.  Then keep asking questions on the forums.  You will learn things like how to safely remove a swallowed hook, how to revive a fish, how NOT to revive a fish (do not force water through the gills from the back toward the front) and other factors.

You seem like a fine young man with excellent values.  I am proud and pleased that you have joined us.

Keep comin' back!!

That's a fine looking fish, young man.  You'll be remembering that fish 50 years from now.
