Under the Radar Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Found a little 3 acre pond about a mile from the house back in Oct. fished it hard for 3 wks with only a few dinks to show for the effort. learned from a old timer that they used to pull a lot of BIG fish out of this little pond. I notice an over abundance of bait fish 2 - 3 inches all along the north bank. Had seen a few nice fish cruisin' the shallows in the early morning and late evening. Went back armed with live bait and these are the results. October 24, 2007, 5.25 lbs November 07, 2007 6.0 lbs November 17, 2007 5.75 lbs November 21, 2007 6.25 lbs November 30, 2007 6.25 lbs this is the last one: This pond I fish for size, I've got other places to fish for numbers. no1 as in no one CPR Nick Quote
Syfer420 Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 great fish im glad to see I'm not the only one who's been on the live bait craze. Ive literally over the last week cought my 5.5 and a 6 consequtively with live bait Quote
FivePoundBluegill Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I honestly dont see why so many people have a problem with bass fishermen who use live bait even is it is legal live bait. Yes you cant use live bait in tourneys and yes it is much easyer to catch large bass with but it is very good to use if you just want to have fun and catch a lot of nice bass quickly. Live bait is great when your takeing friends fishing for the first time because it will make sure your newbie fishing friends will catch their first bass. Then there is always the fight with the bass which is just as hard as if you are useing a lure. Nice catches man. Quote

Needemp Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Great job. That sure is fun to look down in the water and see a big fish at the end of your line. There are many types of fisherman and to each his own. The thing about live bait is that you won't get as much respect from those that use artificial lures. IMO, I am not as impressed if live bait is used, key words here, not as impressed. I am still impressed, but just not as impressed. Artificials require more skill and to me, that's what I love about fishing. But I also understand that that is not everyone elses goal. Have fun no matter what you do, ey! Just my 2c Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted December 8, 2007 Super User Posted December 8, 2007 great catches...the pic doesnt work for me though :-? i am primarily a live bait guy, but on occasion i will toss out a 4" bluegill and get a few. alot of times i dont even get one on the gill before it dies. but it is fun, cuz when a bass comes in on the gill it starts freaking out and you can feel all thats going on down there...the entire struggle between gill and bass. pretty fun.
