Fish Chris Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I did Monday ! It about startled the $#!& out of me too ! :-) Don't know if it was a good sized Striper or Carp, or a Sturgeon, but first their was a "bang" on the underside of the hull.... Then I jumped and spun all the way around, to see a big wake shoot out all the way around my boat. Honestly, I don't know how much of that wake was from me jumping and spinning, and / or from the fish that blasted my boat..... But one things for sure, that certainly woke me up ! Ever had this happen to you ? BTW, since I'm on this subject, about 2 years ago I had a big fish (almost certainly a Sturgeon) run into my anchor line, and litterally yank the front of my boat forward, against the current, and downward at the same time, about 3 or 4 inches ! After that, it was hard not to daydream, about another yank or two, then wham ! The boat starts getting towed like a wakeboard :-) LOL Fish Quote
foul hooked Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I had a big carp bang into my canoe. Quote
frogtog Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I had a bass jump in my boat one time. ( and no I didn't weigh him in ) Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 29, 2007 Super User Posted November 29, 2007 I was fishing one day and out of the blue a 3 and a half pound smallie jumped out of the water and landed on the top of the head of my trolling motor, bounced down onto the gator mount, and then back into the water. I just stood there like so . Craziest thing I have ever seen a smallie do. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted November 29, 2007 Super User Posted November 29, 2007 During last year's Brazil trip a 10 lb+ peacock bass jumped out of the water and slammed our guide right in the shoulder! I could not believe it and had I not seen it I probably still wouldnt believe it! Quote
Guest avid Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 NO, but a few times I was looking South while the boat was going North. Quote

MskSlyr Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Crazy as it may sound Basser89 and I had a very large walleye slam into the side of his boat a couple months back and ended up losing it because of the impact. I also many years ago was off the coast of Long Island with my uncle and had a very large (347lb) thresher smash into the side of his boat. Even though the shark was hooked it made probably a 20 yard mad dash to ram the boat. Quote
Needemp Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Last years AOY in our club had a huge muskie slam into his Yamaha Vmax 250 prop. His partner turned around after it hit and was able to see the fish. Stupid animal Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted November 29, 2007 Super User Posted November 29, 2007 Try cruising about 40mph in the ocean during pitch dark and have a flying fish fly into the boat and smack ya on the chest. Not only will it scare the shttttt out of ya but it hurts like all heck. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted November 29, 2007 Super User Posted November 29, 2007 sea lion/ seal? those things are getting pretty ballsy out there. freaky either way. Quote
Thefishy1 Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Earlier this year when my dad and I were striper fishing at night we used lights to attract the shad to come next to the boat, and everytime something would scare the shad they would all jump and run into the bottom and sides of the boat. We would be sitting there and all of the sudden we would start hearing thud, thud, thud. It was crazy how many shad there were and how disorganised they were, when ever we needed bait we just reached over the boat and grabbed a shad with our hands. Quote
Fish Chris Posted November 29, 2007 Author Posted November 29, 2007 about 6 years ago, I was fishing one of the trophy bass ponds, and hadn't had a touch. I had just worked around one point, and down the other side, when suddenly, back on the point, about 100ft behind me, a huge commotion breaks out ! I look back to see several big wakes cutting out in every direction, and several hatchery trout running for their lives ! I immediatly spin the boat back around, and with the t-motor on max, I get back there within a minute. First cast, I get slammed, but no hookup :-( Then, one trout runns right up to the side of the boat, skittering down the side of the hull, like it was trying to use it for cover. Seconds later, a BIG (looked to be about 13 lbs) bass runs up and blasts the side of the boat, while trying for the trout ! Talk about exciting to watch ! :-) .......but the cool part was, on my second cast, I stuck a nice one. Should have been a DD, as it had a big enough frame, but ended up going 9-10. Got an 11-3 about an hour later. Isn't it crazy that I remember this, right down to the exact weights, 6 years later..... But often can't remember what I had for breakfast ? :-) Peace, Fish Quote
Evan Pease Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 A turtle slammed into my grandpas boat a few years ago. Another time a trout was chasing our boat with its fin out of the water so I threw a popper at it, snagged it and got it to the boat where it came off and started follwing our boat again. I think it might have been a little bit . Quote
bassnleo Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Never had a fish ram the boat but like others here I also have had a smallmouth jump into my aluminum boat. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 30, 2007 Super User Posted November 30, 2007 Once while pulling my boys on Hydra slides the second to the oldest was laying on the bow looking in the water when a Mullet jumped hitting him in the eye. I was looking back at the boys on the slides when this mullet lands in the splash well; I turned to see Kade rolling around on the deck holding the face. I stopped the boat to see if he was ok, he was so we took off again this time with Kade holding a paddle ready to smack something. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 In frreshwater, we had a muskrat (I think) that hated us, it would hiss and what not, always at night. It got brave one night and gave us a bump. Pretty funny. In saltwater, I've been bmped by pilot whales, often, just investigating. I had a Giant Bluefin tail wrapped and gill roped, both tied to cleats, holding the fish up against the outside of the boat when it got another burst of nitro. The tail turned on like someone flipped a lightswitch and we could see the inside of the boat flexing with every thrust of the tail (about 3/second). It was heard by boats from all over the bank. Was the talk of the bar that night. Quote
lineman Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 My dad and I were fishing buzz baits and catchin lots of small fish when he got hung up in a tree.. I guess he bumped a stump with the trolling motor when we went to retrive his buzz bait, About a 3 to 3.5 lbs bass jumped right into the bottom of the boat!!!... biggest fish we boated all day!!
