llPa1nll Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Well its getting cold out here in NH, and this past Sunday I got out and it was no exception. I had to break through some Ice at the ramp and the cove that the launch is in. My partner gave me the "you ever hear of that boat named the Titanic, look." I need to punch a path in the ice about 50ft long. The fish for the temps were biting but we didnt get many bites. I ended up catching 9 and my partner boated 6. He got the biggest of the day at approx 2.5lbs. All our bites save 3 came on dead sticking plastics in 10-20ft. The other 3 came on blade baits pumped over deeper breaks and flats in the 15-25ft zone. If we dont get a warm up soon its going to be all done by Thanksgiving, in my opinion. Anyway I'll leave you with a nice bone chilling pic of my graph with a temp reading... Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Zoinks...ice in the coves here as well last weekend. Water temp was 44-46 out in the lake....this sucks lol :-[ Quote

Red Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 no joke...was a high of 92 yesterday...but a cold front moved in last night...was in the upper 40's this AM...supposed to drop into 30's tonight Quote
BucketmouthAngler13 Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 NJ has been really warm the past few months but now old man winter is waking up and its starting to get rather chill out. :'( Quote
Boett43 Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 There is always some unfrozen water to fish last year me and a few guys went bank fishing when the ground was frozen and it was like ice skating didnt catch a fish but got about 10 videos of people falling that were all americas funniest video worthy haha Quote
bocabasser Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 it is freezing here as well. i got in my truck this morning, and the temp read a freezing 57degrees. it should get a little better as the day goes on, warming up to a high of 70. fishing shuts down for a day or 2 after a good coldsnap like this one. Ky_Lake_Dude Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 The cold here in TN means deer season is here and duck season is almost here. YES!!! Quote
Davis Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Already unspooled and cleaned two of my reels. Just not worth going out right now. Don't have the patience to dead stick. So now I sit and wait until spring. :'( This is up just south of Buffalo by the way. Quote
Super User flechero Posted November 16, 2007 Super User Posted November 16, 2007 Are you joking or is the weather really that different in Texas. I would kill for some 70 deg. weather right now. :'( Yes, we'll have a couple isolated 2-5 day periods of cold and that's about it. Most of our fish go deep for the summer, not the winter. Quote
mayassa Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Going out on a cold day like that shows your a die hard Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I still go out in this cold weather as long as its not raining, I can take the cold, but combining the cold with the rain is just too much for me to handle. Its alot harder for me to catch fish during the cold times, but I can manage 1 or 2 here and there if im lucky. Although since I only fish small local ponds, once they ice over im done, the ice is too dangerous to walk on and break through to ice fish, so its basiclly unfishable. Thats the time of the year where I start freakin out... There is nothing I hate more in the world than waiting for the ice to finally melt. I start buying more and more tackle, and I get pretty ticked lol. But even though it sucks waiting for the cold to pass, it is pretty good all in all. Gives me time to organize my tackle, clean all my poles, change the lines, and think about what techniques to use in the future. Really gives me some good preparation time, so even though its the time of the year I hate the most, I have to thank it in the long run. Ps. Although when the local lakes ice over, I'll sometimes go to a river that the water moves a bit, so it doesn't ice over. There aren't many bass in this river, if any at all, but there are some sunnies. I'll tie a small fly or tiny end of a plastic worm to my ultralight spinning rod, set the drag extremely loose (so the small sunny gives some what of a fight), and mess around. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted November 21, 2007 Super User Posted November 21, 2007 I feel for everyone up north. It rained and cooled off here in Houston today. Think our high was 82. Quote
llPa1nll Posted November 21, 2007 Author Posted November 21, 2007 I feel for everyone up north. It rained and cooled off here in Houston today. Think our high was 82. Im glad you feel bad for me. It snowed here yesterday, didnt accumulate too much but it did snow. I think if I get out this weekend Im gonna wrap her up and call it a season soon after that. Nothing worse than sitting out in a boat with the wind howling and the air temp in the 30s as well as the water temp. While dead sticking plastics in 15-25ft of water.... Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted November 21, 2007 Super User Posted November 21, 2007 Houston weather update a low of 71 this morning. Don't *** us to much the high for the next five days is 51 with lows in the lower 40s or high 30s. Now that's big bite weather. Going Friday and Saturday. Quote
